Rick Porcello may be pitching the worst inning of baseball I have ever seen

Just pulled him and put in Smyly

Chris Iannetta grounded into a DP for 2 outs, was the only Angel not to record a hit (other than Hamilton's intentional walk)

To be fair he gave up 3 weak arse singles up the middle to start the inning..........

Also 3 hitters with 2 hits in the inning...gotta be close to a record?

Wow...I was watching here at work, but quit when it was 5-0....that dude is gonna be in the minors tomorrow

Can't think of anything worse. Even Oliver Perez's 0.2 IP, 6 ER against the Phillies in '09 doesn't compare.

ahhh....good ole Rick Porcello

Jason Jennings 11 ER, 2 outs in the 1st inning for the Astros in '07.
Box Score for the game.

2007 was a lackluster year with the Astros for Jennings. In a game against the Padres, he gave up 11 earned runs on 8 hits in two-thirds of an inning with three walks and no strikeouts.

AJ Burnett allowed 12 earned runs in 2 2/3 against the Cards last year. Picked him up after that in fantasy and he was a QS machine the rest of the season.

Sadly, I seriously doubt this will "wake" Porcello up. I remember when he got the call up to Detroit a lot of people thought he had the stuff to be an ace. Guy has just never put it together I guess.

Never wanted anything to do with him fantasy wise. Could we see him and Smyly switch roles now?

Jason Jennings quote after that game :
quote:
Obviously, it's the worst game of my baseball career," Jennings said. "It was pretty much an embarrassment. I was embarrassed for my teammates to be out on the field during it and the fans to have to witness that. When I did throw a strike, they were right on it.
quote:
It's actually pretty hard to explain. It's something I'm going to have to flush down the toilet and try to recover (from), but it's definitely something I'll never forget.

Why would a manager keep a pitcher in long enough for them to rack up 9+ runs?
8 runs scored... nah, we're good. 9 runs scored... okay, that's where I draw the line.

Was actually 5 ER and then Trout hit a grand slam. That's when the manager pulled him.

Several years back a guy from my high school team was pitching for the Reds, gave up 5 runs without recording an out, came out next time and the first 3 batters homered. Got a couple outs, walked a guy, gave up another homer and got pulled. Never heard from again.
