I can foresee Iowa maintaining its innate ability to somehow get 9-10 wins each season with these new divisions.

strange fact: Iowa only has 2 9+ win seasons in the last 8 years. Prob didn't realize bc we're constantly told how great Ferentz is.

The only important thing is that Michigan and tOSU are now in the same division...which ensures they will only play ONCE a year as God intended.

Maybe I'm just thinking of how they manage to sneak into New Years Day Bowls regularly without ever really being noticed during the regular season.. definitely overshot the win total marker

You have to at least keep Michigan and OSU in separate divisions

No way. Playing back to back weeks would be stupid. I think this alignment is OK if Penn St is down the next few years, but they need to shift them over and do away with the geographical alignment when they get good again. It will just be like the Big 12 when Oklahoma and Texas were the two best teams in the conference in the same division.

Shame that geographic sensibility came at the price of balance.

I notice that they have the Indiana schools split. Why not split the Michigan schools? Putting Michigan State in the West and Purdue in the East would do a lot to rebalance the issue.

That's not the sentiment of must Ohio State and Michigan fans, but you're right.

For about a decade, Northwestern has been as good as Michigan State. Since 2000 the series is 6-5 Michigan State and Northwestern won last year. Northwestern would be ahead 6-5 if not for the greatest comeback victory in NCAA history. They overcame a 35 point deficit in a quarter and a half.

You don't know what Penn State could be with probation. Last year may have been a fluke. They might be Iowa.

Wel'll see how good Rutgers is in a real conference.

Maryland is a shitty ACC team with even shittier uniforms.

Indiana fricking blows.

Much better geographical alignment and keeps your rivals in place, what's not to love about it?

No. Like Bunk said, playing twice in consecutive weeks would take away from the rivalry. I'm glad they are in the same division.

Think about what would have happened if they both went in to the last game having clenched their respective divisions. Talk about making a game almost absolutely meaningless.

It's the best rivalry the Big10 has to offer, and they could have potentially ruined it by keeping them in separate divisions.
