Dan McDonald column

She threw out the first pitch at their home game last night. There are plans in the works to further recognize her within their program.

It is sad that she couldn't return anywhere on that campus and not be ridiculed...just because she took a job at LSU and nearly tripled her salary.

As much as I dislike those people over there, including their wormy little head coach who looks like he works for a lawn service instead of a major university, kudos to them for making this happen and welcoming Coach G back. It is obvious this meant a lot to her.

Of course it is important to her. Lafayette/Broussard is her home town. I have known the girouard family for a very long time.

Yeah...I won't totally be sold on all this goodwill until her plaques and stuff get pulled out of the Cajundome basement and put back out at the softball field...

let me guess Jay walker didn't cover the ULL pigs on his show today? The holier than thou fans are now being exposed. Guess they will be throwing piss bombs next year since they are Nola bowl champs.

I know what you are getting at, and I slightly agree.

I am sure if Nick Saban walked into Tiger Stadium as a fan the year after he retired from Alabama, there would be some name-calling and the like. I get that. But I have never really been bitter toward the guy.

The difference with the Girouard thing is that she single handedly built the USL softball program from the ground up with her own 2 hands. There may not be USL/ULL softball if it were not for her. LSU football had been around for over 100 years before Saban got here and will continue for 10000 more...or until the Mayans get one right about the date of the end of the world.

Not even close. If the only thing standing between ULL and a few national championships was Yvette Girouard coaching LSU to knock the Cajuns out of contention and then have LSU go on to win multiple titles, then yeah.

And let me add that Yvette has always spoken highly of the Cajuns and her hometown city, unlike Saban speaking about LSU. Hell, he barely even wants to admit he coached here. I wonder how much money and begging they had to do to get him to speak on the Ole War Skule movie.

Those 2 situations are similar like a car is similar to an insect.

I agree

That is why so many cajun fans were pissed when she left for LSU. She was their coach for about 20 years and then left them for the college that ULL fans love to hate. It is actually quite funny
