Y'all remember the guy that posted in that thread about having his FFL?

He just sent me this after talking about him being able to get a Ruger SR1911. I know they are impossible to find btw but don't try and talk me into a piece of shite Remington 1911 w/mil specs.

I actually think the Remington is a better quality than the Ruger. Better trigger tightness, overall better history of reliability, and cheaper price. Check the forums, you will see mixed reviews, but overall more lean to the Remington.

Remington
No to them in general

In light of recent events you couldn't be more correct. But their 1911's are shite. Even the enhanced.

I've handled both and I can't say I completely disagree with him. At the very least I would call them "comparable". Now take into account Remington's recent poor decisions, I would probably lean Ruger.

I'm a used car salesman and I've got a Gremlin here that would suit you waaaay better than that Silverado you're looking to buy.

Elaborate.

No, the mil spec Remington is shite compared to the Ruger SR1911 at the same price point.
The Ruger has full beaver tail, match trigger and hammer. Novak sights. The mil spec Remington has none of that.

It will be a long time before I buy a Remington weapon new. Im going to hold out until they go out of business and get bought out by a responsible firearms corporation.

Oh, I see where you're coming from with that argument. But other then "upgrades" the two pistols are pretty much a push IMO. I do agree that the Ruger has more bells a whistles for basically the same price, but if you're looking for a mil spec 1911..........

Wait, what? I haven't been impressed with the Ruger triggers. Not that I'm impressed with the Remingtons AT ALL, but both are far from what a 1911 should be.

I agree that Remington won't get a dime of my money due to recent events but...
... I think the Enhanced threaded is pretty nice. I've held one and checked it out. It's got solid build quality, a good finish, and raised sights all from the factory. It's pretty high quality.
Then again, won't be getting one...

If your looking for a mil spec 1911 you can't beat the citadel at $550ish.

I should have said skeletonized.....sorry.

Posted on 4/18/13 at 9:16 pm to KingRanch
No, I actually bought the Remington a while back on an impulse. I was there, it was there, the Ruger wasn't there, so I brought it home.
Trigger isn't good, but other then that it is what I expected it to be. I'm going to pick up a Ruger when I happen upon one.

Yeah, I figured that's what you meant.

Not to interrupt and show my ignorance of 1911's, but what's the deal with citadel? Are they a decent manufacturer or low end garbage? I'll hang up and listen.

Remington's 1911 is an overpriced tickleshit.

How about a springfield?

OK. I'm really scratching my head here.
How can one milspec 1911 be so different from another milspec.
i worked on lots of military 1911's made from several manufacturers (Colt, Remington, etc. ...hell, even Singer sewing machine company). They were all exactly the same with interchangeable parts.
What am I missing here?
