Questions for you guys with benchmade knives....

I'm trying to buy my first edc knife i've had in a while... definitely want a benchmade. I bought a benchmade 710 mchenry/williams with D2 steel and g-10 handle.... problem is its a little big for what I want it for as an EDC. I like it, but too big.... i'm looking at a couple others and was unsure about the axis vs the axis assisted knives. Most of the smaller EDCs that have the better steel like S30V are assisted.... don't remember much about them. Any advice?

Mini griptillion is nice. I had one and sold it. I think downshift has one.

I have a griptillion I keep in the EDC rotation. Very nice knife for sure.

I have a mini griptillian with a D2 blade. I love it.
If I wasn't so rough on it I would have gotten a 154CM blade, but mine is working on 7 years old and is still goin strong. I like the D2 because its cheaper and a little easier to sharpen than 154CM. The 154CM has better corrosion resistance IIRC because it's damn near 11% chromium which makes it almost stainless. It's hard as a prom dick too, but you'll pay for it.
As far as being a good all around knife for somebody who really uses a pocket knife hard daily, a mini griptillian cannot be beat.

I'm looking at the bone collector series with the D2 steel blade.... kinda looks like the mini griptillian but with a walnut handle, kind of cool looking. Also looking at the mini barrage with the 390 super steel blade, but it has the axis assisted system.... not sure i want assisted.

nope, but i lost the last one i had in the marsh about 7 yrs ago and i just started carrying my cold steel master hunter carbon v on my belt.....
work in a hospital and a little hard to carry a knife everyday with scrubs on
never would buy a combo blade and a little worried about the assisted and actual knife use, looks like some of them have a lock on them...

My S&W knife has both.
(EDIT: But it has a little safety. Look in the pic) But looking back, I wished I had gotten a Benchmade instead. I know it's double the price but the lifetime warranty is amazing. The build quality and alloy material is also a lot better. Mine dulls out very easily.
This is what I have. Except that the blade has lost a lot of black coating (expected) and the FDE finish is rubbing off very easily. Wish I had gotten a Benchmade with G10s.

I have a buck I've had for almost 10 years now. Assisted open with lock. Never had a benchmade. I like assisted.

Benchmade has the opening and locking thing figured out exactly how it should be.
I have never been in any situation where I needed an assisted opening knife or switchblade or whatever. To hell with having a spring loaded blade riding around next to my nuts.
