Absolutely no brainer here. get rid of all conference tournaments. regular season champ gets the automatic bid.

The unfortunate thing is that the damned thing makes money, so it ain't going anywhere...and TV seems to like it too.

Softball scaled back from double elimination to single elimination a few years ago. I think this is incredibly stupid and a waste of time too. Who ever heard of a single elimination softball tournament? I don't think baseball would ever attempt this.

Regions Field is an awesome park. Probably one of the better AA parks in the country. They are building up the area around it thank god bc it was a sure classified shithole about 3 years ago. problem is Regions Field(now where the Birmingham Barrons play) only seats 8500 and the parking is a cluster frick around it. Thankfully Good People Brewing is across the street. Bell and Regions did an excellant job with the new Park and working at Regions Corporate we actually caught some shite from our customers on why we sank alot of money into it.

The SEC will never leave the Hoover Met b/c of its capacity and parking .

The new stadium is called regions field. The older park, which was Hoover met, changed to regions park, is now officially changed the name back to Hoover met

it is a bad arse field. Hopefully the Barrons can draw a consistent crowd. They are continuing $1 beer night on Thursdays thank god. The crowd was strong in Hoover. Downtown Bham especially parts of it is not exactly the most desirable place to be. They are doing a great job of cleaning up that section of Southside with railroad park, and the new Childrens Hospital which is state of the art. They are building a decent amount of loft apartments and i belive there is the works for some brownstones. problem is the other side of 65 which is a stones throw is hoodville.

Regions is in a weird spot with being the offical bank of the SEC and the SEC tourney not being played at its field. Its just too small for the event.

Let's get a little closer to the tournament before we talk pitching matchups. Who knows what the seeding will be.

Yea I know the area well, I'm from BR but lived in Bham from 2007-2011. Being a huge sports fan we loved to hit up thirsty Thursday as often as possible. Just my luck bham builds a bad arse park as soon as I move back home lol

Downtown bham is coming around. Its gotten much better in the past few years. the live music scene is pretty awesome for the size town with Workplay especially. As for as tourney I agree I think it is kinda useless in some respects, but in the past it helped LSU secure better seeding for the Regionals. I think it is ours to lose this year. just my two cents. Speaking of Doc usually does a Road To Hoover Thread. I wonder if he is cranking one up this year.
