Good article! Strange that LSU is ranked first when we had one of the biggest busts of all time taken at #1 just a few years ago.
Then again, his playing days might not be finished after all.

The shite storm is at two pages now. By 5 p.m. today, I'm guessing it'll be past 8 pages.

They rank on value, efficiency, etc. So one could say we are as high as we are because our draft picks don't go as high as they should based on their performance in the NFL. I suppose it's a good recruiting tool, but I could use it against LSU if I were a recruiter for another school.

Actually it means LSU does more in NFL with underrated players.

Which is exactly what I just said. VOE and ROI are all based, ultimately, on where you are picked.

Basically, for every Roger Craig (+4.8 VAE, +181.4% ROI) and Ahman Green (+3.9, +185.3%), there are twice as many Bruce Pickens (-5.0, -84.2%) and Trev Alberts (-4.0, -75.0%).

funny they ended the statistics in 2007 - before glenn dorsey, tyson jackson, jamarcus russell...Those three alone would have put us outside the top 10

Hey dumbass. Both Dorsey and Jackson are considered elite run stopping 3-4 DE's. It's not all about sacks. But both of them are pretty good at taking up blockers so the OLB can get the sacks. Learn some shite before talking shite about former players.

What this says is that Alabama players are historically overated when going into the NFL...wonder if this has anything to do with referees favoritism and the Birmingham SEC offices filled with Alabama grads?

Isn't this bad for recruiting?
You will get drafted LOWER than the value you bring?

Interesting. I'm guessing the numbers end in 2007 because they needed 5 years of NFL data to determine the player's value. There are several ways that those numbers could be spun, but overall it shows that LSU players (aside from Jamarcus) tend to stick, which you could read as they are better prepared for NFL careers. Pair that with number of players that LSU has on NFL rosters and I think that's a solid recruiting tool.
