Can't go wrong with Pappy's BBQ or Bogart's

Just Google "The Hill Italian St Louis" and go crazy.

The Hill and also check out any Gerard Craft restaurant. There are also some good spots in the Central West End.

Pappy's BBQ as was already mentioned. There is one particular place in The Hill I wouldn't recommend, but I can't remember the name. Odds are, with so many restaurants there, you'll miss it anyway.
For other types of food:
Seamus McDaniels in Dogtown for a really good burger.
Pi Pizzeria for Chicago style deepdish. I went to the one in the Central West End, but there are other locations as well.

Google Italian restaurants in "The Hill" neighborhood of STL, that is where it is real. There is a ton of places to visit.

The CWE is an area that has a buttload of truly amazing and diverse reataurants and food to enjoy. Staubs grocery i an expensive but fantastic outlet to do shopping.

Yeah I lived there for about nine months from 07-08. Shopped mainly at Straub's because knew of nowhere else to go. Really liked the ethnic offerings - Indian and Thai in particular. There was one place called the King and I (?) whose Thai hot was tear inducing in the most pleasurable way imaginable.
St. Louis is a pretty great city. Lots of similarities culturally to New Orleans (i.e. French influence, port city), but probably a touch more overall sports obsessed.

Zea's was always our Italian spot on "The Hill"

You pretty much can't go wrong with any restaurant on The Hill. Rigazzi's is the only place I wouldn't go back to, but it's great for families.
ETA: Now I'm craving Italian and we don't have any here!

Never had a chance to go to Pappy's but it gets great reviews from friends who have gone.
Charlie Gitto's is great. If you like thin crust pizza, you must try it.
Ted Drewe's is just another custard place. It's a memorable place for people who grew up there, but other places make better custard these days.

Mad Tomato, Branica in Kirkwood, Acero is really good and probably the best deal around. A four course dinner which is great for $30.00 or about a 10 course for around $60.00.
Go get a sandwich at Amaghettis Bakery.
No idea on BBQ. Can't say I've ever eaten any in St Louis although I'm aware they have a few good places.

Three is a place that I will vouch for as they were in my ole hood. At the corner of McCausland and Manchester there is a place called Michaels that serve legitimately pretty good Greek inspired food. Three or so blocks away from there on McCausland the saome owner has a chop housem but the name for is Greek for Michaels(Mikalos) Back of Manchester go @4 blocks west of Michaels and theier ie a place called Monarchs that got some praise from the James Beard people a couple of years ago. By this time of the year you could eat on thier enclosed patio and mange away.

Monarch shut down about a year ago. The chef that ran it is from Louisiana and got his start at Commander's Palace.
On McCausland there was another Greek place I liked called Olympia.

Sad to know that Monarchs shut down, but just one block east is another good little spot on the left side of Manchester, but I am brainfarting on thier name. I knew about Olympia but didn't recall the name at all. I lived at the very edge of Dogtown before landing in Maplewood. The two met down the middle of my street. If coffee is desired Stone Spiral to the north of Mancester about two blocks is a funky little place. Take a right at the Shop and Save grocery at the end of thier parking lot.
