Golf Call-in Infractions only penalize the popular players...

The main reason why this stuff needs to stop is bc the only guys who will be penalized are the guys who are on TV a lot (ie Tiger, Rory, Bubba, etc...)

This rule will only affect the lesser known players if they are in competition at the end of a tournament. If USGA really cares that much that they should have a crew of people that review every shot (which they will never do bc the manpower needed would be extremely high)

this. I cant stand the call in rules BS.

on that same topic though tiger should know the rule better. its a simple rule with not much room for interpretation IMO. he screwed himself in the presser.

but thats not what this threads about just saying this one is alittle different but I agree that call ins screw tiger phil etc

no fan should be able to influence the outcome of a golf tournament period

I'm just surprised that the big name guys aren't speaking up about this. In the grand scheme of things, the 3rd shot on the 6th hole of the tournament is just as important as the last shot on the 72nd hole.

Tiger, Phil, Bubba, Rory, etc... are held to a much higher standard bc of the # of eyes that watch every one of their shots.

So you are saying that the more popular players should get away with breaking the rules?

So those fans who moved that boulder for Tiger a few years back should have stayed behind the ropes?

For the record, I thought that was BS when it happened. Technically, anything is movable with enough manpower.

Out of all theae years everyone is freaking out about 1 incident. It wasn't and won't be an epidemic. So lets quit acting like its brand new and popular golfers are fricked.

They seem to be doing alright.

No, the officials at the tournament should monitor the players for infractions, not tv viewers. It would be like me calling in during a saints game because the refs missed a call.

No. I'm saying that the lesser known players should not be able to break the rules bc no one is watching their every shot. I thought that was clear.

Maybe they should televise the rest of the field more and the "popular players" less.

Or, just follow the rules and there won't be any problems.

Bubba already did, said he doesn't think they should be allowed to call in infractions.

I don't know why people keep talking about golf like it's the same as any other sport.

In golf, you police yourself. Tiger should have called the penalty on himself. Sometimes they miss it, I don't know what tiger was thinking, but he deserved the 2 stroke penalty.

Well of course they shouldn't be able to get away with it. But neither should the more popular players.

You know what the more popular players do get, is larger galleries and opportunities for those fans to stop a poorly hit shite from getting in worse trouble. I should have a gallery following me around on my weekend rounds so I don't lose a ball that barely misses the fairway.

Those popular players have probably benefited more from that than these massive amounts of call-in rules infractions.

He was thinking WTF? I just hit a perfect shot and was going for birdie, now I have to get up and down for bogey.

Not that this excuses his actions.

Not really.

If a rule is broken, you are supposed to get a penalty. Golf is not about trying to get away with it.

Of course it doesn't, I don't believe for a second that tiger didn't know the rule.

I'm not saying that Tiger did or didn't know the rule, but just wanted to point out that all would be surprised at how many pro's don't know even the simplest rules.
