If the policy was explained before they bought the tickets, I have no problem with it.

During last night's game, when Ken Kendrick noticed the fans there, he offered them another suite if they preferred to remain in their Dodger gear. When they chose to stay, he bought them all D-backs gear and a round of drinks and requested that they abide by our policy and they obliged.
It seems dumb, but at least they got the situation settled in a decent fashion.

lol that's exactly like the Seinfeld episode where Elaine wore an Orioles cap while sitting in the Yankees owner's box.

The only difference I see here is that the story eludes to the idea that these fans purchased tickets to that seat instead of being guests in that seat like Elaine was.

Screw the Diamondbacks. If the Owner doesn't want opposing fans behind home plate he needs to advise the ticket office not to sell them or buy them himself. What an a-hole !

How does the ticket office know who is a fan of what team?

The owner is a complete and total douchebag.

I think they handled the situation nicely.

Buying them drinks even though they were in an all-inclusive suite and gear for a rival team doesn't really seem like much of a deal. I think I may have said no and tried my luck. At the least, I would have liked to get free tickets for the next game somewhere.

No problem...it happens in all sports...telling people where and how to sit from opposing fanbases...I remember going to a huge Penn State game back in the 80's and it looked like the opposing fan section had shrunk to nothing compared to other games and was wedged further in the corner...
...and it's his team and he doesn't want to market for the Dodgers all night long or make Arizona fans look bad (and it looks pretty bad behind home plate on TV.)
