LSU was the "source" for Arizona Diamondback's purple

Announcer on ESPN broadcast just said when Buck Showalter was the manager, he could not find a color purple he liked until he went to a game at LSU and saw the carpet in their lockerroom. Asked for a sample and that became the purple in the unis.

Was gonna take a jab about how Showalter should have been more concerned with winning ball games rather than playing fashion designer, but I saw he won 100 games and made the playoffs in the franchise's 2nd year, which is pretty impressive. <____<
