I just started listening to it and it's probably my new guilty pleasure. Makes me feel at home. Reminds me of summer BBQs and the like. That said, it's not something I'd blast in my car. Maybe just on long road trips or while I'm chilling in the back yard on a nice Spring day.

Used to hate stuff like this though.

Not just country. I mean the more twangy, steel-guitar-heavy country.

I am always a sucker for folk music. Old school "real" honky tonk/western music is pretty awesome

That's the same kind of genre, I guess. But more recent.

Like, here's a honky-tonk version of Wonder's "I Just Called to Say 'I Love You'"

I like it. Check out Aaron Watson for a newer honky tonker...

Right Place
Haunted House
Heyday Tonight
Songs About Saturday Night
3rd Gear and 17

I love the older stuff too, Dwight Yoakam, Radney Foster, Webb Pierce, Faron Young

There ya go, love that sound. Just prefer the newer sounds, so it's not the old recording style.

I just listened to a couple of those songs. I love his sound! I'll definitely be downloading some of his songs.

Aaron Watson is really good. All Honky Tonk, although his latest two albums started sounding a little more Nashville-ish, but still good.

Kevin Fowler - Ain't Drinking Anymore
Kevin Fowler - Beer Bait and Ammo
Kevin Fowler - Cheaper to Keeper
If These Old Walls Could Talk
Kevin Fowler - Hell Yeah I Like Beer

Same deal with him as Aaron Watson, but worse. Newer stuff has much more of a pop sound, and less honky tonk.

I love honky tonk. Just put a beer in my hand and play some Faron Young. I'll be in heaven.

Back when I was single, I was a closet honky tonk lover because the women liked it. Hate it now.

Two awesome Texas artists. Never have seen either. Seriously contemplating a trip to Austin. Throw in The Derailers or Justin Trevino for the trifecta.
