1) I'm just not meant to cut firewood this week

2) Will this be covered under warranty? The bar is bent to hell also. The saw is still under warranty

3) If it is not covered under warranty, how much do you think it'll cost to fix this (excluding the cost of a new bar)

TIA

Did you use it to catch a falling tree?

Why would you pay that much for a chainsaw? How long of a bar is it?

I was cutting a pretty big tree off at the trunk about 3 feet off the ground. Tree broke not where I was cutting it. Bad shite happened. Damn lucky I didn't hurt myself.

I hope you don't expect someone else to pay for you dropping a tree on your saw.

Not really. I'll let them if they offer to though.

Pretty chicken shite that it broke. Nothing fell on it. It just twisted a little bit and tore my shite up.

Don't drop trees on your saw and you won't have that problem

Dogs are easily replaceable. Case is cast aluminum IIRC. It would be a tough call on that being a warranty claim

As far as I can tell all that's broke on it is the plastic that the dogs screw to. It's part of the same piece as the oil tank. I haven't looked at it that much yet. Having a hard time finding the part on the interwebs.

That cracked area is plastic? If they don't repair it, go to Harbor Freight and buy a plastic welding gun. That might help.

Be careful felling trees youngman.

Yea it's plastic.

Like I said it's not like I dropped a 48" tree on it. That plastic just isn't made to be put in a bind.

ETA: I think the entire thing (oil tank, gas tank, etc) is all one piece. What's the labor rates for chainsaws usually?

Try Bailey's. I know they sell the dogs. The case is gonna be harder to find. Might be a Stihl-only type of part. That split looks like it goes all of the way behind where the dogs attach, so you are probably gonna need a whole new one

I thought my old ones(pro grade) had a cast aluminum case. That was a while ago, so I can't remember that well

FWIW, I wouldn't warranty it. You could do that in a couple of hours yourself
