Who called the penalty for slow play?

I understand the kid got warnings, but he's 14 playing at the masters. Cut him a little slack.

The one stroke penalty made it a close call.
Also a couple guys got to 6 under which would have eliminated him, but the leader is at -5 so he made it the "within 10 strokes" cut line.
Great kid. Actually speaks good English too.

Wow. Thanks. That is truly amazing. Could this be the future of golf? Making the cut is almost unbelievable considering he has never shot that course before. They will talk about that for years.

The leader is at -6, bro

Leader is at 6 under...
Kid shot +4 and made it on the number...
Rules are rules... Group got warned on the 10th hole... He had plenty of time to pick it up
That's what is great about golf.. Rules are the same in every language and for every golfer

Unless your Tiger Woods, then the on course rules officials will grant you free drops from anywhere.

Ya I feel you on that... But there is a big difference between a drop which is up to the official on the scene and a rule that is set in stone at 40 seconds

I think it was fricked up too... But I guess their group was way behind and they were given an hour and a half to pick up the pace

Ummm. Groups are "put on the clock" just about every tourney. They pick up play to avoid a penalty.

Um, I bet at some point in those every weeks since 95 somebody has taken more than 40 seconds. The official had discretion and he made a bad decision. This is the third time he has done something like this. He knew what he was doing.

I agree with u on the poor timing and on who was penalized being suspicious... I don't know. I'm just saying that its hard to blame an official when they were given ample time to speed up

I agree that his decision is technically defensible, but just a poor move, imo.
