Seriously, is there a worse apple than Red Delicious?

No. I wouldn't feed a red delicious apple to the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.

Why does Red Delicious still exist? Are low-quality pies made from Red Delicious?

My thoughts exactly. I always thought red apples like granny smith, jonathons, etc. tasted like shite.

I guess I need to open my apple horizons a bit.

I read somewhere that it's a very hardy apple... more resistant to most fungus and parasites than most.

I really wish we could grow apples down here, as a good crisp apple is one of my favorite things on the planet

The best apple I've ever had was at some farmer's stand in Washington. It was just perfect.

Maybe. Maybe not. If you have tied Fuji/Honeycrisp/Pink lady and still prefer GD, fine. If you haven't, you really should try them.
