He manages to crunch numbers and get the team under the cap every year, while keeping a competitive squad out there. I'd say he is good at what he does.

At least we are competing for titles while maximizing the opportunity.

If only defense didn't matter...

We won with mediocre defenses.

The Saints have won a shitload of games over the years. Of course defense matters, and that is always addressed. The fact that most of the additions don't pan out has nothing to do with Loomis

Loomis is a numbers guy, not a talent evaluator.

Why do we want to get rid of Greer?

A mediocre defense would be nice right about now.

Thats an extremely shitty standard set under Loomis.

Thats an awesome spot to be in if you're Loomis

He is.

Which is why it would be nice if he was actually good with the numbers.

Despite what some people seem to think, there are plenty of successful teams that aren't in cap hell every offseason, like us.

So Loomis is deciding who fits the schemes, he's telling Sean... "Man that guy would be great in the short passing game, and he's an outstanding blocker?" No,
They tell him who they want, and his job is to sign them to contracts.

Thats the truth.

Not a standard unless you have the Saints plans that state such, otherwise, just a outcome.

Yes it is I think. GM of the year. Well paid . Working in the NBA. NFL champinship. Coach is back and the prospect for sucsess looking good for the future.

I would say a very awesome spot indeed.

We are in cap hell because we have a Hall of Fame quarterback. The Packers will be there shortly. The Ravens won a Superbowl and had to pay Flacco. The Falcons will have to sign Ryan to a high long term deal.

You do what you can. Sign a group of high name defensive guys, or have one of the best players, at the most important position, on your team. The offense certainly isn't filled with superstars outside of Brees and Graham, yet they put together arguably the greatest offensive season of all time in 2011. Yet, the defense is filled with 1st round picks and have been mediocre to awful(2012), outside of a few guys.

With success came higher contracts. Part of the business.

You can argue semantics. The fact is Loomis gets paid to control the money and spends it like its going to rot, while putting out absolutely embarrassing defenses for most of the past decade.

Outside of last season, the Saints have had a mediocre defense, which is all they need. What happened with those mediocre defenses (although they were top 10 in 2010); seasons of 13-3, 11-5, and 13-3. I'd say compared to the shite show this team was in the past, the guys here, including Loomis, have done a hell of a job. Payton is back, and so is this team. I'll take 10+ wins any day. But then again, I'm not some spoiled frick on the rant.

We are in cap hell because we draft horribly on the defensive side.

We have to bring in 3-5 FA every year to try and patch holes. Rather than draft talented players and have them on their rookie deals.

So our GM doesn't evaluate talent? Why is he our GM again? How come just about every GM can get away with both duties?

If you draft worth a damn, the money part becomes much easier.
