It is the other way around. If it was 90% no dogs would be alive today.

We have one side of the story. No facts have been presented, just a lot of what ifs by both sides.

If you could read then you would see where I stated that we don't know all the facts. We only know what the OP put. I am a cop and have been for a long time. The perception that most of you retards have isn't even close to what the truth.

So far there are a lot of cop hating and dog hugging posters that prove they have no real world experience. If breaking up a dog fight, I don't care if it's 2 dobermans, is the best one can come up with there is no experience. I've done that shite too. If you have never been on the receiving end of the closing rate of a pissed off 70 lb. dog you have no idea as to what it requires to pull out the mace. I don't know what the dog was doing. That is why I don't know if it was a good shooting.

Your dismissive attitude pretty much confirms my perception of cops.

Sir, that same statement applies to those that have insulted me. I am not a cop but have been called a few names. No problem though as I have come to expect that from that element of society.

So it's sort of like the Catholic Church moving pedos around...and keeping it "in house".

Declare them publicly, stand up and be heard!

When did this thread change to cop hating .... oh yeah, from the second entry. Not one cop hater has considered trying find out the story before condeming the officer IN THIS ONE CASE. EVEN THE NEIGHBOR DOESN'T HAVE THE FULL STORY.

Blame the unions that make it impossible to fire these bad apples.

Now the Catholic church got unions?? This just gets better..

Have you ever tried that on a small doberman. HEY, a new job for you, teaching cops how to dog yell!!!

That's because you aren't a coward. In all seriousness, I expect cops who handle guns and thugs daily to be a little more careful.

re: Cop shot the neighbor's dog...

RECAP: Although the original post says the cop reports he felt threatened, the ONLY report we have to go by, other posters have decided the "threatened" was everything from a slobbering mutt wanting to lick him to death to a huge doberman charging him at full speed.

We, collectively, have decided this 1 in 90% of the bad cops that belongs to the Catholic Church Union should have done anything from shooting to tasering, macing, yelling at, or just letting the dog eat the dirty dog shooting cop that most of us hate and would have shot on the spot.

What did I forget? As they say on the shark tank I'm out.

re: Cop shot the neighbor's dog...

Hello everyone.

This story is about my dog. I live in Tuscaloosa, in a subdivision called High Forest. I am 45 years old and have 2 children aged 13 and 17.

I do not know who the original poster is. I don't recognize his user name.

The story related is mostly correct, except the weight of my dog was 45 pounds. He was 3 years old and was an Australian shepherd-Lab mix.

He was not an aggressive dog. He would bark if someone came to the house but he never charged or tried to bite anyone.

A little more information about this is that when ADT called me I was at Jalapenos restaurant near Lake Tuscaloosa. They informed me that my alarm was going off and they asked did I want the police to be called. I said yes. They then asked what type of car I was driving so they could tell the police. I drove the 6-7 miles home and found everything fine. I waited in the den for my family to come home. About 10 minutes later I heard the gun shots and (like an idiot) ran outside. There I saw my dog lying in my garage and a TPD officer 15 feet away, in my drive way. I asked him "what the f@#$ have you done" to which he replied "your dog threatened me, and I had to shoot him" (3 times).

The officer was 15 feet away and my dog was in the garage. The officer had pepper spray and a baton.

I then told him to "get off my property", he said he had to wait for his supervisor to arrive. I told him that he could wait for his supervisor from the curb.

He backed his car out of my driveway and waited for the supervisor.

Two of my neighbors arrived and could not believe that this had happened.

His supervisor arrived and took 2 pictures of the scene and collected the 3 shell casings. Then they left.

The next day I was talking to one of the neighbors who had come to my house that night and he told me that his teenage daughter was having a party in their backyard (they live directly behind me) and that they heard the shots. The direction that the shots were fired was directly towards his backyard.

I am very thankful that this idiot cop did not hurt any of those children. As bad as the situation is it could have been much worse.

I have filed a complaint with Internal Affairs and I should hear from their investigation by mid week.

Sorry to hear that man. Unfortunately, nothing will happen or you'll be paying for his 2 week vacation. Sucks to lose a good dog. My condolences.

re: Cop shot the neighbor's dog...

You are probably correct. My attorney is working on it. I have already been contacted by the police chief, my district councilwoman and the Mayor.

My hope is that the officer loses his job. He does not need to be a policeman.

I understand that law enforcement is a difficult profession and not everyone is cut out to do it. I would think it takes a certain mindset to do that job. You need to be calm, patient, and have enough intelligence to make decisions quickly.

This guy has none of these qualities. He is dangerous. What happens when he comes up on some guy who is 6'5" and 300 pounds? And he shoots him because is is threatened (scared). Then he finds out that guy was not who he was looking for, the guy was just a pizza delivery guy or something.
