Would you defend your dog from another dog with deadly force?

I was at the dog park with my lab and was thinking about this scenario:
We're just hanging out and a dog gets aggressive and latches on his neck. Do you try to beat the dog off, make him get off by tightening his leash, or do you pop him in the head with a round?
I love animals as much as the next guy or girl but if a giant dog is latched on my lab and depriving it of oxygen, there isn't much time to think and I would expect a bullet could end the scuffle quickly and save my dog.
This didn't even come close to happening though. This is the first time I've really brought him to a big place around other dogs. My brother and I have only had him for about a year but he's extremely mild mannered around other dogs and is very obedient. No matter what, when I called his name, he would come to me. Here is the man in his glory. Told him to sit and stay, and even with everything going on, he sat up tall like a champ.

We almost went out there today, I'm fairly positive you're not supposed to have a firearm there so I wouldn't discharge my weapon. I would however beat the frick out of the other dog.

Gouge his eyes and a-hole, that dog will shite bricks and wouldn't even see it coming

Is either dog collared?
Either scenario.
Stray obviously I would save my dog.
Collared is where it gets hairy. I'd feel bad for the owner but if it's my dog or some douche dog, the douche is gonna get it.

I've never heard of this exception and I didn't see any signs up so I would assume it's just a public park and ok. Then again, I don't know for sure. It may be something good to look up.

Cold steel blade FTW.
I do always have my little S&W pocket knife on me. But why stab the dog and have it slowly die?

I saw a pit latch on to a smaller dog over there a few months ago. Pretty sure the little guy died......his owner who was a lady was just standing there holding it and crying "what do I do"
The little fella looked lifeless.
In the others defense, that little dog should not have been in the big dog area.
P.S. I hold no ill will against pits.

This.
I have seen a pit bull immediately let go after going to the eyes. Either let go or go blind.

At least someone else said it and I didn't have to.
I did see one pit there today and I kept my eye on him. He didn't seem to be a problem but if he messed with my dog it would be his arse.

It's brec property. I'm not sure their rules.

I'd kill damn near any poster here for attempting to take out my 30# mini dachshund so other dogs are certainly fair game.

I would defend my dog and I wouldn't care if the other dog's owner saw me. I'd shoot him right there in that park, legal or not, to save my dog. I don't feel for the owner if he can't control his dog when it's trying to kill mine.
I've spent many a day at that park.

While I agree with this............I never allow our little guy to go in the big area. Better safe than sorry............I'd hate to have to kill a MF'er over our little dog.
You just never know what can happen.

This is my exact line of reasoning too. If the owner was too stupid to not socialize the dog at a young age, the fault is on his or her shoulders.
I would also feel the exact same towards someone who had to take down my dog for hurting another.

quote:I did the same with my little dog. It isn't worth the risk. I've seen sorostitutes out there with big dogs they can't control and they have no idea how to properly train a dog. Terrifying that these broads will be mothers soon.

A good dog is like a member of the family, you do what you gotta do!

I have a GSD but if it's at a dog park, (which I do not do that because of dog's can fight) I would beat the dog off. On my property, it's probably a DONE deal. Quick and swift and LOUD!

Depends on where you are and situation. In that pic you can't shoot it IMO but beat the crap out of it for sure.
