I actually think baseball is MUCH more popular now then when I was playing little league 12 years ago. With all the information about football being so dangerous, many parents don't even let there kids play football now days. I think we will see that payoff in 10-15 years. I know when I have a son he aint playing football. Attendance is actually fine, and I am confident on that.

It's not so much little league, but travel ball that has taken off in and around Atlanta. For some reason actual Little League has never had much of a presence around here, or at least in the area I live in. It's a shame too because I wanted more than anything as a kid to be able to have a chance to play in the LLWS.

Where I live, yes. Baseball is almost a dead sport here. (northern georgia)

Well if we're basing mlb success on braves fans attendence then we might as well just say the season starts in august.

every time I seea post like this I know the person is lazy and does not check out Stub Hub or any of the other ticket sites.

Tickets for $20 and under can be found for MLB, NBA, NHL, and MLS for the majority of games.

You really only have to worry about NFL and some CFB games for ridiculous prices.

The average age of MLB fans probably goes up every year

Seems like the cubs, yankees, red sox and probably other big maret teams were in a dispute with stub hub about partnering with stub hub to sell tickets for significant amounts below face since they're obviously trying to drive sales through the box office.

Also i think your post is assuming folks only go to a few games. If i'm going to 20+ games, then yea ticket price and weather are going to affect teh games i go to and the inflated price of tickets could very reasonably change my attendence from 20 games to 15 games.

Not for the NBA and NHL if the team is good (even in the nosebleeds)

I just love how people have been predicting baseball's collapse for years. If this were the case, last season wouldn't have been the 5th highest attendance year ever.

Just a bunch of fricktards who have no attention span or appreciation for a mental game.

there must be no way he was including metro atlanta as north georgia. possibly the best place for baseball in the entire country.

What about Houston? What's their excuse?

I'm doing my part. Been to two games so far, opening day and Saturday vs the A's. I'll be at the next home game vs the Indians as well.

Yes, you can. I get them all the time in Dallas for the Mavs and Stars. Its not hard to do if you do a little work when you look. I've had the same experience for Rockets, Spurs, Thunder, Hornets, Nuggets, Nets, Bulls, Celtics, Grizzlies, Blackhawks, Avalanche, and Bruins. These were all in the last 5 years.

Now if you get picky and only want Saturday night tickets for something like Miami/New York, you'll have trouble. But if you go check out a midweek game against any average team you can find good prices.

Exactly. I saw cheap Rockets tickets all year. Granted you'll watch them play the Bucks on a Wednesday. Upper level end gets real cheap.
