My values are being tested: Chase offers free one year united mileage plus card

First I have vowed never to use chase if I have options due to repeated horrible service offered by them in various transactions. So usually just throw everything they send me in the trash. But this caught my eye. This card will allow me free entry into the united club. I travel monthly so I'll probably have the opportunity to use the club a few dozen times. I could cancel the card after one year but just the thought of doing business with chase makes me feel dirty...

Isn't it just free entry once or twice per year into the United Club though? Read the fine print to make sure...

I just shredded a similar offer from Chase for United.

What's worse? Using Chase Bank or having to fly United?

Damnit, I have to do both of those...

Honestly united has gotten better over the last year in my experience. I made similar vows against them but really have no reasonable choice out of north Houston.

No it is unlimited access. Trust me, if it was just once or twice it would be in the trash.

Based on the last 7 Yelp reviews, the Houston United Club is a great place to hang out unless you are Middle Eastern: LINK

If you will be going through IAH a few dozens times a year, it sounds like a no brainer.

If you don't like Chase, just don't put any transactions on the card and let them foot the bill for your United club access - sounds like a win-win. How bad can Chase really be?

What in the hell goes on in these exclusive clubs? How long would you stay there?

I've never been to one personally but tend to shy away from coming across as a "high-roller".

You're from Arkansas, so your confusion is understandable.

They are great for layovers or flight delays. Nothing crazy happens in there... Just free drinks and free Internet

I have the Club card which is unlimited entry into the clubs. The explorer card only gives you 2 passes a year.

Yeah they can be really nice for layovers and delays. I fly internationally on occasion and you get access then; just not for domestic travel.

I'll probably do it and just not any business on it. I'm going to call about hidden fees and to ensure there isn't a two year agreement or something.

No hidden fees. Just cancel the card in time.

Sounds meh to me. On my last plane trip, I was able to find free internet at the airport without any special memberships. And I don't like to drink when I fly because alcohol + turbulence = crappy buzz.

I feel like the only worthy thing an airline could offer me are two fold.
Either get me a seat with more leg room or a really discounted ticket.

After that the other amenities do nothing for me, but I guess flying 50 times a year could change that.

When you fly multiple times per month that changes quickly. It all depends on how much you fly
