I don't see ESPN asking for him to be hired.

I guess they had a change of heart

thats the thing, NOT A SINGLE PLAYER COMPLAINED.

They can't complain or they will get their scholarships pulled and/or won't be granted a transfer by the coach. The fact that they didn't complain is a completely useless argument in this situation.

So after all of this, who wins? I would give the win to the disgruntled employee who demanded 12X his annual salary, and of course, ESPN got viewers.

the politicians and faculty at rutgers that dont want rutgers to be an athletic school won.

Who loses? Rutgers athletic department and fans. They just lost a good AD.

the biggest losers in the whole ordeal are the athletes themselves. most ads arent like time pernetti and dont care about the kids on a level he did.

so while the investigation is going on and the ad calls them into his office to find out their feelings on the matter they werent allowed to tell the truth? gtfo.

Thats a huge issue for me. That article states there was a video. ESPN either didnt ask for it or viewed it. Very questionable. ESPN should be put on the hot seat as to the timing after reading that.

The fact remains however that if they had aired the story in Dec or early Jan I would hold the same opinion of the Coach and AD all things being equal.

Thanks for the research. I dont have time for that and its the main reason I have TD.com

That's all I've been saying.

Though after reading rutiger's link, I'd have less issue with the Rutger pres being fired than Pernetti. They took the decision away from him, and got rid of him anyway.

Well when do you want to believe him? Cause on OTL he said it was his decision not to fire Rice. Now he goes the other way.

Don't blame ESPN bc the higher ups at Rutgers keep changing their story.

You GTFO. That's exactly what I'm saying. You're retarded if you think the players would just talk shite about the coach to the coach's boss, who incidentally was the coach's boy who hired him.

5 players in 3 years is a lot

what? just LSU's had more attrition that

that sounds like a really normal attrition rate for any basketball school

not to mention the only player interviews I've seen since he got fired are positive ones...where are all the players talking about how awful he is now?

no matter which side you're on, ESPN blew this story out of the water and sensationalized it to ridiculous levels. it's really sad

And that was a lot. Trent's LSU program is hardly a model to follow.

re: Rutgers AD has been fired

it's laughable if you think less than 2 players per year is "a lot" of attrition...and it's definitely not "waves"

also, why wouldn't all the players who transferred talk about how bad it was once they left? they were no longer in "fear for their scholarship" at that point

re: Rutgers AD has been fired

This story reminds me of the Chris Benoit story a couple of years ago. The media quickly jumped on the steroids made him go into rage and kill them.

They brought on former wrestlers who admitted that no steroids doesn't do that and it has to be something else. But the media hammered home that it was steroid abuse. Some time later when it was revealed that his brain resembled a 90yr old with Alzheimer's or something to that affect from concussions and head injury that went quietly by.

Sensationalizing at its finest.
