Blake Lively rumored to be playing Freddie Mercury's girlfriend

Yes…before he was gay, he was straight. He dated Mary Austin all throughout the 1970s until Mercury came out of the closet to her. Despite coming out as a homosexual/bi-sexual man, Mary Austin and Freddie Mercury remained close friends even after their ensuing break-up. She eventually married and had Mercury be godfather to her first-born son. At the reading of his Last Will & Testament, Mercury's partner Jim Hutton was stunned when Mary Austin was named inheritor of Freddie Mercury's estate.

She is really hot, Cohen seems born to play this role and I hope it is going to be a good movie.

His last two movies being nominated, with one win for Best Picture, isn't good enough?

He did a terrible job with Les Miserables imo. Totally blew that movie. His directing style worked for the King Speech....but Les Mis? Big time letdown.
So maybe he can make a good Freddie Mercury movie. But I'm judging (fairly or unfairly) off his last piece of work.

Just found out that her husband is actually Ryan Reynolds. Weird.
I thought he was married to Scarlett Johansson. Still, can't go wrong with either one.

He was married to ScarJo. They split and divorced.

Man, Cohen might be incredible in that role.

Isn't he supposedly a pretty legit singer? Obviously they'll have to go over him with Mercury, but he can atleast hold a tune in theory.

Freddie could sing his arse off

I don't think Freddie Mercury was ever "straight."

There are a lot of pretty legit singers that can't hold a candle to Freddy Mercury. I imagine we won't be hearing his singing voice.

I hope she doesn't ruin the movie. I expect greatness form Cohe in this role, but she is a complete amateur when it comes to acting chops. She was unbearable to watch in that movie where she was sleeping with two dudes. There are so many other good looking actresses that could play this role. ScarJo who has been mentioned in this thread would be a much better choice. Shite I'd rather watch Lohan than this chick.

Mary Austin and Freddie Mercury posing for a picture together sometime in 1986.

O I completely agree. Freddy Mercury and Stevie Wonder are two artists I don't think should ever be covered, EVER. It always sounds terrible regardless of who is doing it.

Not trying to flame or start shite and maybe this should be another thread but I NEVER understood the Stevie Wonder Musical Genius thing. Good voice? Yes. Good song writer? Yes. but his elevation to Musical Demi-God....meh.
