He will likely be an UDFA so I say why the heck not. Bring him into camp and if he shows he can learn the position, then sign him to the practice squad. If not....well....

.....plus he could be emergency QB! Unseating Moore!

he always seemed like a phenomenal kid...too bad LSU has had some of the dumbest offensive coaches in the nation. Dude was such a waste. Would like to see him get on special teams somewhere.

They're going to take a flyer on Jarrard Randall as a fair-catcher too.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Russel Shepard will never see a regular season NFL snap.

Good fit for practice squad in preparation for dual threat quarterbacks IMO.

J/K. I'm sure he could still throw a decent spiral though.

But.. but.. the LSU coaches have the ruh-tard and just didn't use him right!!!

Seriously though, Shepard may be able to stick on somewhere, but he looks like he is destined to be a PS guy for a few years and then on to his next career. I really hope I'm wrong about that though. I do think that if his football career doesn't work out that he would be great in the offices for LSU football or working for them in some capacity.

It's amazing how common this belief is.

Umm. Not to be an a-hole but I watched Les Miles personally flush a BCS down the toilet. His team didnt cross the 50 and he didnt play his best QB (still blows my mind)

Safe to say there is some truth to the latter part of this statement

ETA: everytime I saw him get the ball it was 10 ft over his head. Still though, DO NOT WANT

Didn't help that he couldn't catch.

So sick of hearing this dude's name. Great kid yes, couldn't catch, couldn't return kicks, couldn't block. He was given opportunities to do something, but it's hard to giving someone touches when you have players better than him. /rant

Its amazing to me that there are people that think otherwise. Have you watched this team on the offensive side of the ball in the last few years? If so, is it not painful for you to watch? Did they not just go out and hire someone from the outside in an attempt to fix it?

I'm not saying Shep would have been a stud in any other offense, but I'm pretty sure someone with his talents could have been utilized better almost anywhere else.

No I don't know how good RS is, but Either LSU recruits the worst offensive talent in the nation or LSU coaches are among the worst offensive coaches in the nation

Either way, their offense has been abysmal for some years now. I don't watch them all that often (Sept when da honey badger was playing) so I don't know about RS specifically

We have plenty of brick-handed DB's, thank you.

I wonder if he could wear a ball cap backwards and keep track of stats.....
