Legit championship = won on field

I'm pretty sure college games are still played on the field and the results of those do factor in to who "wins" the title. You (and most other people) think only a specially designated final game legitimizes a championship.

The problem with CFB is, there are too many teams playing different schedules, so it's rare that you have 1 team that clearly distinguishes itself as the best through the regular season. Sometimes (I'd argue 2011 was one such time) one team does, but most of the time there is too much subjectivity. So the fairest solution is to have a limited # of teams in a playoff. Keeping it exclusive keeps the intgrity of the regular season in tact, while still giving all teams a chance to control their won destiny.

Outstanding point. In college sports there has to be some cutoff and that will involve some degree of subjective voting.

Winning 6 straight basketball games against pretty good competition is tough so I'll say basketball. I mean some really good teams lost already

It depends on if your school is a media darling or not. For teams like Texas, alabama, ND, LSU, USC, Ohio State etc.. football is the easiest. You play 12 games 7-8 of those are against teams that have no chance to beat you so if you can just go 3-1 or so in the others you have a shot to play for a national title. If you aren't one of those schools, or close to it, it's the hardest because you have to be perfect.

For basketball and baseball it's the opposite because all you have to do to win either of those titles is be average in the regular season and then get hot for a month and you are the champion. So that makes it much easier for non-traditional powers or lesser teams to steal a title.

IMO best way to do that is split off the lower-FBS conferences, and have an 8 team playoff in the current BCS level (5 Conf Champs and 3 at large).

True, but you have to at least consider the fact that it works the other way as well. You see teams that probably don't deserve a shot getting one, and you also see some teams that probably aren't the best but are able to capitalize on a ridiculously easy road.

Football.

Most teams start the season with an astronomically low chance of winning the title no matter how many games they win.

The very fact that teams in major conferences have gone undefeated and not been given an opportunity to even PLAY for the championship is evidence enough that it's the most difficult.

The results on the field matter for some teams and don't matter for others. Its 100% subjective a 4 team "playoff" changes nothing.

At large bids don't matter because you have the ability to objectively take them out of the equation.

If you are actually the best truly elite teams, you want CFB to win a championship.

If you aren't the best team, or really aren't even in the conversation for being anything other than "good" I'd say basektball.

So the answer depends on where you actually stack up in the sport.

It's easier for the best team to win football, but because everyone with a pulse gets a shot in basektball it is "easier" to win probably.

Definitely football. There just isn't enough parity.

Literally every team has a chance to play in the tourney and therefore the championship in Bball.

The CWS is similar.

If you're in a mid-major conference?
football

If you're in a power conference?
baseball

being in a mid-major makes it practically impossible to win a national title in college football.

This is the argument I use to say basketball is the hardest to win.

Football. Easily. You can be a major team, go undefeated, and not even get shot at it.

football and basketball you pretty much win if you're the better team

baseball it's easier to drop two games as the better team than it is to drop one in the other sports

If you're actually elite, it is absolutely harder to win, but if you're looking at what a team has to do to win a title, if you're below that truly elite level, basketball becomes easier.

For example Kemba's UConn team would be playing in some equivalent of the Music City bowl if they put together a resume like that in CFB, but in CBB they were allowed to get hot and win a title.

This year 3/4 of Final Four wouldn't have a prayer of being selected for a 4 team playoff. Therefore it was easier for them to win the title than it would be in football.

Has happened 1 whole time under the current system, whereas the tournament eliminates the major conference powers before the FF on the reg.

Football is definitely the easiest. While you (most likely) have to stay perfect, the talent gap between good teams and bad teams is massive. Much easier to win in football if you're a good team. Baseball is a tossup pretty much every single game. Talent plays into it, but you can be spanking the ball, but spank it straight to a glove every time.
