Dude they really didn't.


They made him a bigot with no redeemable quality. Yes, he was a douche on the set but they really didn't give him anything. He is a shell of a character who won't be missed because we have no connection to him due to poor writing for that character.

This doesn't mean that Community is a bad show just that Pierce is a worthless character

You're mixing up cause and effect. He wasn't difficult to deal with because they didn't give him better material. They didn't give him better material because he was such a cocksucker to work with.

They actively found situations to separate him from the story so they wouldn't have to deal with his shite. He would mess up shooting schedules, mess up his lines, antagonize the other actors. And early on in the series he complained about the material he was given, when they were actually trying to keep him involved.

Vacation Movie....no Uncle Eddie......why even bother to make the movie?

Along with this, I read more specifically writers were reluctant to give him more lines or a more active role in episodes because they never knew when he was going to actually show up to set.

i think he went totally crazy if he's not actually in jail
