Apparently the New Orleans Saints aren't soley interested in linebacker Jarvis Jones from the University of Georgia when it comes to beefing up their pass rush from the upcoming NFL Draft.
According to WalterFootball.com, the Saints have held a private workout with linebacker Alec Ogletree as well. The Saints obviously want to get a closer look at Ogletree after seeing him perform at UGA's Pro Day last Thursday.
Ogletree is projected to be an inside linebacker in the Saints 3-4 scheme, unlike Jones who would be an outside linebacker. Jones also had a private workout as well, with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan putting him through his paces.
During his career at Georgia, Ogletree had 197 total tackles, 20 tackles for a loss, six sacks, one interception, and three forced fumbles. Despite his stellar college career, the linebacker has had off the field issues.
In September of 2010 he was arrested for misdemeanor theft related to a stolen scooter helmet that allegedly occurred in June of that year. He was suspended for the first game of that season.
Just a few days before the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Arizona. After the arrest Ogletree was able to attend and go through the workouts.

So he's projected strictly as an ILB?

Also this is interesting-@LaSportsDude: #Saints options at 15 remain the same: Mingo, Jarvis Jones, Bjoern Werner, Tavon Austin. They will choose BPA from their board or trade down

I would love Ogletree at ILB if we don't get Mingo or Jones. We could probably even trade back to the mid 20s and still get him. Would put more speed on the field as opposed to Hawthorne who's more of a thumper

BPA thats the way they have won a superbowl and thats the way they will win another.

IMO everything us starting to fall in place. With so many teams wanting to get to our pick to get him. It's a stronger possibility that we trade down if a deal comes to us

The driveman says dont worry about BPA, its DTA like stone cold said. DONT TRUST ANYBODY.

If we actually take Tavon Austin at 15 without a trade, I am just going to snap.

At 6'3 and 230 he also was a safety coming high school. I think he could line up outside occasionally.

Only if mingo or jones aren't there.

This. Would be irresponsible to take a player like that without trading back and least getting a 2nd rounder.

I would love this pick. Ogletree would add size/speed/and versatility to our LB group. Like Tez who played ILB at Illinois, you could probably line him up at ILB or OLB.

Really like Ogletree especially since he was a safety before and adds great athleticism. Would be great if the 49ers fell in love with Austin and traded us their 31,34 & 61 picks.
I'm surprised we haven't worked out Pat White he would be very cheap and upgrade from Chase.

Have only read Ogletree at ILB like here but have asked from the get go "Why not at OLB?" and have heard nothing to disqualify that. He seems to have all the skills necessary to go OLB.
Maybe a slight reach at #15 but a reach I could prolly get on board with if he's the playmaker we're looking for.
