I don't recall if we discussed this here, but from a few other message boards, I've read some opinions that there should be some sort of incentive for playing the Support role in team builder (and to some extent ADC).
I don't know how I feel about giving preferential treatment to one role, but it's definitely frustrating sitting in teambuilder for 20 minutes waiting on a Support and/or ADC every single time.
Thoughts?
ETA: The new champion possibly being viable as support may have an impact initially on this issue.

Not alot of people start the game saying... Let me sit in lane and watch this guy get cool items and deal damage while I just poke, keep vision, and hope to initiate team fights later.
What makes it even worse is when you have a stupid ADC.
Support just isn't a very exciting role to alot of players. It's what everyone gets stuck with in normals when they don't get their pref role.
ADC is a little surprising.

I honestly love playing support. But I do generally go into team builder to practice other lanes sometimes to round out my game.
Supports (especially thresh and leona) are/can be game changers. Nothing more satisfying to me than landing hooks over the wall or making CC plays with thresh.
I think the issue is you are essentially dependent upon another person in bottom lane, and unless you are duo'ing, you can usually find yourself getting stuck with some troll, idiot, or rage quitter who doesn't know how to position themselves and is constantly dying because of poor decision making.
People get tired of it. I know personally, I stopped playing bot lane for a couple weeks because of this. I've started playing ADC again, as even if my support quits, I can at least feel some semblance of hope that I can contribute to the team and hold my lane.
As a support, if my ADC quits, it's much harder to hold my lane.

Braum's kit is sick as frick. If I didn't hate support with a passion I would main him. I might try him in other lanes.
quote:
Passive: Concussive Blows
Braum’s basic attacks apply Concussive Blows. Once the first stack is applied, all basic attacks from Braum and his allies apply further stacks. Targets that sustain four stacks are stunned and suffer bonus magic damage. After being stunned, Braum cannot apply Concussive Blows to his target again for a moderate duration.
quote:
Q: Winter’s Bite
Braum propels freezing ice from his shield in a straight line skillshot, dealing magic damage (based on Braum’s max health), slowing and applying a stack of Concussive Blows to the first target hit.
quote:
W: Stand Behind Me
Braum leaps to the aid of a nearby ally, positioning himself between his target and their nearest enemy champion, and granting both Braum and his target bonus armor and magic resist based on his total armor and magic resist.
quote:
E: Unbreakable
Braum raises his shield in a target direction, negating the damage from the first attack from the shield’s direction and reducing the damage of all subsequent attacks as long as the shield is raised. Braum intercepts projectiles with Unbreakable, causing them to hit him and then be destroyed. He also gains a minor speed boost until he lowers his shield.
quote:
R: Glacial Fissure
Braum slams his shield into the ground, sending out a huge long-range skillshot that knocks up and damages all enemies caught before leaving behind a strong slow field.

Good. Now maybe we won't have to sit in team builder for 30 minutes waiting for a support.
That being said, I decided to play blitz support last night. Wound up with a Twitch as my bot lane partner vs a Thresh/Twitch. We went a combined 25/7/43 (I was 9/1/26...dat ult passive). The twitch wasn't some challenger level player, but he was competent, level headed and didn't make dumb mistakes. I would absolutely play with him again.
This got me thinking, should Riot implement some sort of "karma" system that is more visible/accessible for all players to see? They have their honor system, but I've known many players, including myself, that constantly receive honor, yet acquire no ribbon(s). Should there be a different system in place to see what type of teammates we are playing with? Perhaps keep DC/AFK/etc... stats that we can lookup by player name?
Or maybe I'm just crazy....

*Breaking News* (Today at least)
Nien is stepping down from CLG.
He's gonna be a "sub" and will re-join if they can't find a suitable replacement.
He cites disappointment in his play, needing to focus on individual improvement, negativity from the community, letting his team down/holding them back, and personal relationships as the main reasons for his decision.

Dyrus made that arse quit.

Pussy bitch, crying about the community. Man up, Nien

Man up, Nien
I can respect what he's doing.
He thinks he's not LCS quality anymore and has lost his confidence. He used to not worry about criticism b/c he was confident that he was one of the best. But now that he's struggling, the negative comments are tougher to deal with.
His performance late in the year was pretty good, and some of the team mistakes get blamed on him b/c he's the least popular player on the team. When doublelift or some of the top laners from other teams make mistakes, they get a pass. I can understand how that can weigh on someone when he's already low on self confidence.
He doesn't seem to be blaming the community and adopting a victim mentality. He's just admitting that everyone has been right about his recent performance and he needs to do something about it.
He doesn't expect to get much better doing the same things he's been doing.
So, he's gonna focus on his individual improvement in order to allocate all of his time on personally getting better.
What's gotta be disappointing for CLG fans is that they are getting what they've asked for (a replacement for Nien), but what they may not realize is that it may result in CLG doing worse.
His teammates and the other pros have been saying that there really aren't any replacements available in EU/NA outside of relegations.
Zion's style isn't a good fit for CLG. They could move Link to top lane and let Shiphtur play mid.
They could try to grab ZZ or Kev1n from EU.....
But that's it!
The truth is, Nien is definitely top 5 in NA.
He is behind Dyrus and Balls, but he does exactly what CLG needs a top laner to do. Hold his own in lane, play a tank, and let Dexter & Doublelift make plays.
I'm thinking that he'll benefit from some time off to improve himself and return to CLG.

I didn't, I just went off your post saying he cited criticism from the masses. it makes him sound like a pussy.
if hes quitting primarily because he thinks he sucks, I guess thats ok. it just seems like a woe is me thing.
I know who they can get to replace him.

quote:Nah. He didn't cite the community intially. He got pressed to answer the question directly.
it makes him sound like a pussy.
And he was like, "yeah. Easy to block the BS out when you're playing good. But when you're doubting yourself, it's harder to ignore."
quote:Yeah. He's like. My team deserves better. I think I'm holding them back. They need to get someone better than me.
if hes quitting primarily because he thinks he sucks, I guess thats ok.
Meanwhile, I'll spend most of my time getting better individually with the hope of improving and be deserving of joining CLG again... or another team that has a chance to win worlds.
quote:It kinda seems that way to me, too. Double had an interview saying that Nien would be the last one he would expect to quit. That he's always been the hardest working. Link agreed.
it just seems like a woe is me thing.
So, peer pressure can get to you I guess.

Someone on TSM will step down soon, but it won't be Dyrus. OddOne has fallen behind mechanically and it's starting to hurt TSM.

I do like the general, but what a lot of people forget is that there are a lot of talent in the lcs.
We all are guilty of criticizing players unfairly.
He's still one of the best na players, but if he loses to a slightly better player like meteos, we're quick to discount.
The bigger issue is the unknown comparison to Korea or eu and assuming which is better.
Is nien crap? No.
Is he better than Dyrus or balls? Probably not.
But what does tsm or clg ask them to do?
We don't know and judge without all of the information.

My friends and I think odd one is on the chopping block. Junglers are a dime a dozen in NA and odd one has not been making world class plays lately.

NIP barely lost to millennium.
ZoroZero stood out the entire series.
Does Clg make a move to grab him to replace Nien?
I was worried that NIP would get in and he wouldn't be an option.
However, the Mil/Nip matchup was ideal for Monte.
Kev1n or zZ. Win-Win.
Although, Kevin looked better.
Is the relegation to planer better than Nien?
Millennium was obviously a low ranked team in Eu, but Kevin and Kerp carried them all split.
The pawns have been set.
