I forgot we're the only team with salary cap issues.

He bought the team for $150 mill in 89. It's worth $2.1 billion now highest in the league by far. That seems fairly quantifiable. Team success or not the dude knows how to make money.

Is that really the barometer you're using to classify Jones as a great businessman? Really.
Using your test, Benson is a better businessman than Jones. Benson bought the Saints for $72 mill and it's worth over over a billion dollars; Benson gets all of the revenue from the Superdome (worth in excess of $500 million); he has a practice facility worth $100 million (paid for with state money), and got a free building from the state on Poydras Ave. worth $40 million.
The Cowboys are worth $2.1 billion because Jones paid $1 billion for the stadium.
Not bad for a used car salesman!

I mean I understand where you are coming from, but the Cowboys revenue has been pretty remarkable. Teams in the NFL share concession revenues from NFL sponsored vendors like Coke. Jones was realized that the Cowboys were accounting for something like over 15-20% of the overall revenue and started selling Pepsi products there before the NFL tried to stop it and he filed suit against all the owners except Al Davis. And yeah he just spent a billion on the stadium which ups the valuation, but that thing is going to pay for itself super quick, he's already locked up the first CFB NCCG in the playoff system. I hate Jerry Jones as a person, but I honestly can't question his ability to make money whether he got his start with the aid of oil or not.
ETA: regardless the thread was meant to say that we locked Drew in at the right time for the right price seeing what qbs around the league are getting now that are no where near his play grade.

I don't know how old you are but I can tell you that the Cowboy's revenue has always been in the top 1 or 2 in the league from the get go. It was Don Meredith, Craig Morton, Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, Walter Garrison, Tony Dorsett, Calvin Hill, Too Tall Jones...these are the guys who created the "Brand" and the revenue that goes with it.
Again, your logic is less than perfect and here's why: Dan Snyder may well be considered the worse owner in the NFL. He has done nothing but create one screw up after another and, yet, the Redskins revenue is always in the top 3 in the league. Is that because Snyder is such a great businessman, or because the Redskin have history?

Why would you say Flaco is inferior to Romo because he has a lesser QB rating?
that kind of represents a measure of their comparative ability to QB

because Flaco has yet to have a great season. Romo is clearly much better than him

What? Are you seriously arguing Romo, who hasn't done anything in his career, is better than Flacco? One of the most clutch postseason QB in the last few years? Oh and just so happen to torch every secondary he faced last season en route to a Super Bowl victory.

Flacco was playing under Cam "Plain Dry Toast" Cameron forever, and when they finally got rid of him and took the handcuffs off, he led his team to a Super Bowl victory. He vaulted over a lot of QB's after that including Romo.
Flacco still didn't deserve that contract.

so flacco will be a top 5 QB over the 16 games of 2013, right? he'll jump up from the mediocre range and prove it on the field, right?

I didn't say that. I think he will have better regular season's though, and I'd take him over Romo.

Until Daylight Savings Time ends. Did you watch him shite the bed in a nationally televised winner take all last game of the season for two years in a row?

Romo has actually put together a good sesaon.
Flacco had one of the best post seasons ever, but still had a QB rating of 88 for the year. Romo's career QB rating is better than Flacco's best season. Romo is a top QB who may shite the bed in big games, but Flacco has yet to prove he can even be a top 10 QB for an entire season

did you see the stretch he put together to give his team a chance to make the playoffs with a shite oline and defense?
Last 8 games - 314 yrds/g; 18 tds, 6 ints

They're both extremely overpaid.
