re: Is Jimmy Graham replacable in our offense?Posted by St Augustine on 3/29/13 at 3:18 pm to Chad504boy
No.
For the love of God we need SOME very good-excellent players. Brees would be 35-36 by this time and Colston/Moore 32ish . We can't just keep saying we don't need legit Oline talent or receiving talent. If we're not going to pay a top 3 player at his position and one of the top 5-10 most difficult covers in the NFL who the hell are we going to pay?

Well there's a lot of good little po-boy places in that area but double as bars like Tracey's on magazine so I doubt you'd wanna go there.
But if you wanna make a small little trip to Mid-City, highly suggest Parkway Bakery, or go out to Lakeview and hit up RNO's can't miss there.

I'm glad there is now a thread worse than the one where I suggested trading our 1st round pick earlier today.

I just hate when Drew forces the damn ball to him.
This is the part of the reason I don't really want us to spend a first round pick on a WR.
If we get a superstar WR, Drew's gonna force it to him all day.

Jimmy frustrated the shite out of me last year. Hell make a huge catch one down and then just straight up drop a huge would be 3rd down conversion.

I don't know how you can say Moore is more vital than Graham

skull dragging.....
why in redhot hell would we not pay jimmy after a great or meh season? we all know how hard he is to defend. i doubt jimmy asks for the whole bank cause he has expressed his loyalty to drew & sean. he will be offered top te money. he's still a basketball body maturing so he's gonna get better.

If it's 2012 Jimmy, thanks for the memories!
but he had some sort of wrist injury at some point in the season... i read that he had surgery for it earlier this year, which was why he missed the pro bowl...hopefully, he'll be back to his old self this season.

I can't believe you guys. Pay the man. No ifs ands or buts
This is how I feel in my heart, but thinking logically, can the Saints afford to pay the man? Who would we have to drop to keep him, if anyone?

We will be shortly moving into a time where saying Brees can make anyone look good will no longer apply. Pay him
saints without jimmy in '09 was still top flight, but everyone was younger and we had depth at receiving positions and a legit TE in shockey.
saints with jimmy and sproles was GSOT material even with aging players.
Gronk is the best in the league, we all can agree without the biased attitude. He can do two things you want, block and catch and he can do it exceptionally well.
I won't mind paying him gronk money though, but for more than gronk? I'm iffy on that.

As good as Drew is...I think it would help out if he had a #2 wideout with some size and speed to stretch the field. Lance Moore is a good #3. Morgan isn't proven or consistent.
I think players like Sproles and Graham would flourish even more if they weren't viewed as primary options every single play. It's been effective but this team really struggled this past year when they both were limited or out.

If the contract talks stall between Graham and the Saints, dont be surprised if you see Graham posturing at the end of the season calling himself a "Slot player"
If he can convince the league that he played more of a slot WR role in the offense, his franchise tag number goes up considerably
Even if Graham just decided he didnt want to be a Saint anymore, the Saints could Franchise Tag him for 3 straight years through the Brees era and go from there
Dont think yall have much to worry about in regards to losing him after next season

Yeah I can't imagine the TE franchise tag is that high.
