Now I really want to switch to an NVidia setup. I discovered a bug with the Hawaii GPU and the current drivers (well, by discovered I mean I found it out for myself, as others had already done).
If you run a game in full screen, with crossfire, in-game vsync enabled, and you have more than 1 monitor, the audio is horribly crackly and distorted and makes the game unplayable with sound. I only use vsync in certain games, so it was only just now that I discovered it when fricking around in a few games. I noticed it for the first time when playing Metro Redux, but I chalked it up to a simple vsync bug with the game/shoddy optimization. But running several other games today confirms it isn't limited to Metro.
The instant I unplug my secondary monitor, the problem goes away. Or, if I run the game in Windowed/borderless mode, the problem goes away, since doing so also disables crossfire. Disabling crossfire in CC and running in full-screen also fixes the problem. I have both monitors plugged into DVI. Plugging the secondary into HDMI does not fix it. Unfortunately, I don't have a display-port cable to test it.
Since the bug requires specific parameters (Crossfire, full-screen, in-game vsync, and secondary monitor), it's not a widespread problem inciting massive outcry. I haven't found much related to it online, other than a few people complaining about drivers not fixing it, and a promise from AMD back in February 2014 that the upcoming driver fixes something related to audio stuttering and crossfire -- obviously, not everything was fixed. All the threads I've found say it's crossfire/vsync causing the problem, but I only found one thread mentioning dual monitors. Of course it was on fricking Tom's Hardware, and of course the thread ends with no solution.
Amazon needs to get their 980s in stock ASAP.

frick yeah.
Edit: Looks like Amazon may be price-matching Fry's one-day sale on it, which means they might raise the price tomorrow, so I'd buy it right now if I were you.

Say what you want about AMD vs Intel but that's a hard price to beat

Buy Blue's 7950.
Read this before you buy an 840 EVO. Keep in mind that Samsung says a fix is on the way.
Buy one of these RAM kits instead. They are cheaper and faster:
G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2400 CL10
G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3-2133 CL9

I would downclock that RAM to 2133 and get tighter timings. Shoot for 9-9-9-24 but 9-10-9-27 wouldnt be a diaster.

9-10-9-28 is what my 1866 X series is at.
