He's young and says $180 lol not sure if possible

Sounds like he needs a tablet and the pocket minecraft app.
$200 would get you the cheapest of cheap chromebooks, but they won't play any game that isn't browser based.

At what frame rate? I'm sure the game will launch, but I'm skeptical the Baytrail GPU in that celeron will be playable. But my standards might be higher.
Link to video?

Yeah, not bad, 30-40 fps. Guess I still overestimated minecraft's requirements. My knowledge on Intel HD Graphics performance is pretty limited except for the highest end ones, and Iris Pro.

Mod performance will vary. May want to get opinions from blue and others. My experience with minecraft is about an hour of vanilla gameplay.

Are DVD Drives the standard in PCs still? Or are there others?
Posted on 7/15/14 at 10:06 pm to bluebarracuda
I'll take that as a no.
I was looking at pre-built gaming PCs and there were a few I saw for about $700 but had DVD drives. Thought that was a little fishy. Seen a few Cybertron desktops that have good reviews.

DVD drives are like $10 so if you want one get one
Posted on 7/15/14 at 10:20 pm to bluebarracuda
Oh you were saying to NOT get a DVD drive.
What's your opinion of this desktop? Be brutally honest
LINK
If I get a pre-built one I'd like to get one that I could upgrade video cards and stuff in the future. I assume you can do that with just about any desktop though.

That's a terrible deal. That's like a $20 video card

Know of any good pre-built computers?

Watching a 44-minute video on how to screw in a motherboard and plug in some cables is out of the question, then? LINK
Posted on 7/15/14 at 11:25 pm to ILikeLSUToo
It's not out of the question. It's just more about me not feeling confident in myself to NOT screw something up.

The cheaper off-the-shelf PCs that are even fit for gaming will probably be sold by iBuyPower, if you want something in the $700-800 range.

You'll pay about $150 more, assuming you only get the dirt cheap bare minimum components that they use. Hell, you'd save money and get a better system even by paying for shipping costs to have someone here build one and ship it to you.

You're right. I guess I could build mine then I have a friend who builds PCs who could help me through the process. Plus I'd like to have a rig i can upgrade pretty easily.

Anyone here use the program FRAPS? If so, how can I get it to record continuous video? I know it says to capture video, press F9 as the default and i've done that but it doesn't record it for more than like 5 seconds.
ETA: The reason I am using FRAPS is because I want it to record just the gameplay while I am streaming instead of recording the gameplay with my webcam/overlay, etc. Just seems stupid to have my overlay on a Youtube video.
