Or hell, shave a couple hundred off your tower budget to afford the Korean IPS if you need to. What's getting you to the $1500 price point? Did I do a build for you yet?

Yeah, just a part list with a properly allocated budget.

That would be appreciated. A build list around either 780 Ti or any top tier graphics card.

I wouldn't do a 780 Ti unless you were going for a $1800-2000 budget and want all-elite top-end stuff. Otherwise it's just throwing a couple hundred away for a few percent performance difference. The AMD cards have come back down and then some. Unbeatable values now for the 290 and 290x, and you'll want the extra vram, higher memory bandwidth, and wider bus for 1440p.

This is what I'd do at a $1,500 budget:
LINK
PCPartPicker part list: LINK
Price breakdown by merchant: LINK /

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($334.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($80.47 @ Mwave)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($124.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: PNY XLR8 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($134.00 @ Amazon)
Storage: A-Data Premier Pro SP600 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Double Dissipation Video Card ($489.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: Antec HCG M 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1519.39
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Here's what I'd do to shave about $300 off the price and maybe lose about 5 fps in gaming performance at 1440p: LINK

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($238.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: A-Data Premier Pro SP600 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($99.99 @ Newegg)

Video Card: HIS Radeon R9 290 4GB IceQ X² Video Card ($379.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Blackout ATX Mid Tower Case ($77.99 @ NCIX US)

Case choices are just placeholders, of course, since it's all about preference. Liquid cooler is optional, but with the new TIM and extra capacitors, the Devil's Canyon CPUs should be better overclockers, so you might as well take advantage of it.

Yeah, but I gave up on telling people to buy used parts. They never want to.

I'd be willing to do that if I had warranty

Besides that are their any cons in buying used cards/parts?

No, other than the typical issues of buyers not being totally honest about the condition, which is an issue with anything you buy used, and you're pretty well covered with eBay's "buyer is always right" policy. I bought both of my 290s used for $200 each. They're Sapphire brand so even with a warranty I'm sure I'd be fricked if something goes wrong, but at that price I didn't even care. No complaints, other than the fact that one of them doesn't overclock very well. Just luck of the draw for that, though.

I used a 32" 1080p tv for a short bit as a monitor and it sucks. You're simply sitting too close and 1080p up close on a 32" monitor simply doesnt look good.

In fact I'd say 24" is the max monitor size I'd use for 1080p. If you jump up to 27", 1440p is a must IMO.

Question for y'all:

I just put a brand new install of Windows 7 on my laptop, but for some reason what I downloaded from the official store (used my product key on the bottom of my laptop) didn't come equipped with any Network Configuration so now my laptop has no internet (wireless). Where/How can I get the service packs on my computer without having the internet? Can I download them to a USB and install them that way?

You don't need the Service Packs for that. What you need is the network drivers installed for your laptop. You can download those and install from USB and voila! you'll have Internet.

I found this today. I am not sure if my PC is powerful enough to run it.

Pokemon cards are the last thing on my mind. I only remembered because I grabbed the box they were in so I could start putting some of my other finds on eBay.
