re: The Official TD 2013 NFL Mock Draft [Coleman]

I'll take redskins/broncos

Chiefs are on the clock. I'm not going to really set a time limit. It seems like we are all interested and active so we know the picks will occur in a reasonable time period

Unless you guys want a time limit. I mean obviously if a pick isn't made in a day or two, we should make the pick for the person.

You going to update the OP with the draft order with team owners next to them?

With the 1st overall pick in the TD.com NFL draft powered by FedEx, the Kansas City Chiefs select...

Luke Joeckel, Offensive Tackle from The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas.

The Chiefs have lots of holes, but they need an anchor to their line to protect Alex Smith. The Cheifs think they have an outside to make a push for a playoff spot next year. As terrible a year as they had last year, they could only be a good coach (Reid) and decent QB(Alex Smith) away. They actually have a pretty solid defense, and have some decent offensive weapons.

If Joeckel can step up, he should be another in the long line of solid OTs drafted 1 overall.

Solid and expected pick. I like how you said the entire Texas A&M name.

With the No. 2 overall pick in the TD.com 2013 NFL Draft powered by Astroglide, the Jacksuxville Jaguars select

Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon

Somewhere, Chip Kelly is sulking. Jordon is arguably has the highest ceiling among pass rushers in the draft and could be the next stud. Or a bust. Knowing Jacksonville, he'll be the later. But the Jags need immediate help on the defensive line.

With the 3rd overall pick in the 2013 TD.com NFL Draft presented by ChristianMingle.com, the OAKLAND RAIDER select,

Sharrif Floyd, Defensive Tackle from George Washington High School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Raiders are known for their wild draft day antics, and by being woo'ed by combine warriors. But with the passing of Al Davis, the Raiders are trying to turn over a new leaf and draft players of need that seem to be can't miss prospects and they get that with Floyd.

The best Defensive tackle in the draft, Sharrif has an incredible frame standing 6'3 and weighing in just shy of 300 pounds. He may pack on a few more pounds to be able to eat up blockers at the next level, but he really stands out with his incredible first step that allows him the ability to blow up plays and eat blockers with speed rather than raw power.

At 6'3, he's a bit tall for defensive tackle and it sometimes gets him in trouble getting taken advntage of by shorter offensive guards with lower pad level and better leverage.

Overall, Floyd can be an absolute monster in the NFL, and the Raiders are more than happy to put stock in his development.

RIP AL

I'm getting wild with my next pick, I hate the obvious picks, it never goes like it should on the real draft day IMO.

Just be warned, I've played nice early.

NFL teams "reach" all the time. Some hit, some miss.

With the 4th pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select:

Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah, DE, BYU

The Eagles are rebuilding on D. At this point they don't have another DE to complement Fletcher Cox. If Dion Jordan was on the board, they'd pounce, even though he projects to LB in their system. But Ansah is a nice consolation prize. The Eagles have met with him and recently arranged a private workout. There's legit interest.

There's some question about whether he's an OLB or DE. Eagles sent their DL coach to BYU to watch him and are now bringing him in for a private workout. It's clear they see him as a DL. Paired with Cox the Eagles now have two young bookends to build their defense around.

With the 5th pick the Detroit Lions select:

Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan

The Lions have a few major needs, but none more glaring than the tackle position. LT Jeff Backus retired and they were already in need of a new RT, after Gosder Cherulus left for the Colts and the likely transition of Riley Reiff inside to guard.

Fisher makes sense on many levels. He's got LT upside, but he'll be a RT at worst. Fisher gives them an immediate starter at LT to protect Stafford so he can get the ball to their best player, Calvin Johnson.

With the No. 7 overall pick in the TD.com 2013 NFL Draft powered by Doc Johnson's Butt Plug, the Arizona Cardinals select

Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

After the Raiders passed on Smith, this becomes a no-brainer for Arizona, despite having recently signed Drew Stanton to a contract. Arizona badly needs a quarterback who can make plays, not just manage games.

Larry Fitzgerald should be on board as this can make him one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL again.

Arizona also thought about Lane Johnson to shore up the offensive line, but quarterback is the biggest priority.

Editor's Note: Having back-to-back picks, it was almost easy to collude my own picks so the Bills could end up with Geno Smith, but I refrained

With the No. 8 overall pick in the TD.com 2013 NFL Draft powered by Bud Light, the Buffalo Bills select

Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

Lane Johnson or Chance Wormack are the 'safe' picks here, but the Bills can't afford to be safe. They need help at QB, TE, WR and LB, but it's too high for most of those positions.

Not Patterson.

He is the ultimate risk/reward guy, having only one year of college football under his belt. But he has the opportunity to be the most explosive player in this year's draft.

The verdict is still out on whether Patterson, who has the build of a top-flight guy, can be a No. 1 wide receiver, but the Bills have to take a shot. Stevie Johnson is ideally a supporting cast player and would be much more successful working as a secondary option.
