Glorious news.

Seeing as how I am done, I think you should have to be an astronaut to get into law school now

Yes.. I was hoping one of these threads would come about this week. It's been like 3 days since the last.

This thread would be 5+ pages if that one law school troll still posted.

I think his name was northgate?

Yeah.. but "theronswanson" has entered the thread, so it's still got potential.

Oh look, one of these threads.

I'm guessing the small bump in 2009 on your graph was the "Grad School Save haven" mentality that occurred when the economy went to shite. People couldn't get jobs and decided to wait it out.

The subsequent precipice was realizing how shitty the prospects were. Bet a lot of folks saw their friends and acquaintances not do so hot.

Shit, I just realized my TD was stuck on two hours ago and I had been working.

I took the last "old style" Louisiana bar and the new version has dropped pass rates by quite a bit. Can't say I'm too sad.

Probably never. A classic case of the past was always better mentality

Nah I think it happened in the mid 90s and then again in the early 2000s. That was particularly true in Texas. I know a few attorneys who recall getting offers from firms they didn't even clerk with, pretty much just out of the blue. A lot firms were scrambling to get talent. Obviously, that train left the station. It will come back around again eventually. The market is cyclical. As long as there are corporations and a-holes, there will always be lawyers.

Here's a better article:

quote:

As of this month, there were 30,000 applicants to law schools for the fall, a 20 percent decrease from the same time last year and a 38 percent decline from 2010, according to the Law School Admission Council. Of some 200 law schools nationwide, only 4 have seen increases in applications this year. In 2004 there were 100,000 applicants to law schools; this year there are likely to be 54,000.

quote:

After the normal dropout of some applicants, the number of those matriculating in the fall will be about 38,000, the lowest since 1977, when there were two dozen fewer law schools, according to Brian Z. Tamanaha of Washington University Law School, the author of “Failing Law Schools.”

38,000. Holy shite.

This clearly shows the incredibly litigious society in Louisiana, considering most LSU law alumni practice in the state. No disrespect to LSU law alumni but look at the other schools on that list.

Louisiana has more lawyers than the country of Japan and I count myself in that number.

I think they only have had one version of the "new" bar. I have a feeling it will correct itself or whatever. It should be easier to pass. We'll find out April 12 I suppose

I think that once you pass the bar most attorneys don't care where you went to law school as you are now a barred attorney. If you have seen one attorney you have seen them all.

That's more a result of getting rid of "conditioning" the bar. It's all or nothing, but the exam is actually easier.

I didn't know it could get any easier. Bar exams test minimal competence. If you can't pass the bar, then that does not bode too well for you from a competence standpoint.

There are too many lawyers. Make it impossible to get into law school, and make the bar exam incredibly difficult.

It will never happen, but I think that is the way it should be.

Yeah none of the associates at my new firm have been like "so where did you go to law school?"
