Almora broke his hamate bone earlier this year. I don't think that's a huge deal anymore as far as surgery and recovery goes.

I will say I would like to see the Cubs get a couple of big time arms in the system. And who knows, maybe that will come via free agent signings in a year or two when these position players come up and they are ready to compete.

Lot of people are saying that Simmons is already the best shortstop in the game.

Trout and Harper are in a league of their own. They are once in a generation prospects. Rarely do you have one. We are getting to witness 2. This is truly something special we are experiencing.

Right. Trout and Harper were in that Griffey, A-Rod level as prospects. Even Taveras, Profar, and Bundy don't carry the same hype that the 3 in OP had. Much less some of the top 30 prospect types that people are mentioning.

Well it was supposed to be Robinson Cano, but I think expectations have tempered for him a bit. He is still an elite player though.

How the frick have expectations tempered for Cano? He is a MVP candidate year in and out. Arguably a top 5 player in baseball.

I am excited about a couple of the Cubs guys, but I am more looking forward to when they pair Castro, Rizzo, and a couple of the guys like Baez and Lake with some high-end free agents.

I guess I mean expectations by Yankee standards. The feeling when he first started to emerge was that he could be the next Jeter-type player - a legend. He is definitely solid year in and year out and I agree with your assessment. I guess I meant that he is not "legendary" just quite yet.

Well, he is the best player on the Yankees by a good bit.

I honestly do not how much better you want him to get. He has been an absolute stud since he entered his peak at age 26. He has played at least 159 games every year since 2007.

In the last four seasons, he has hit at least:

25 HR
.302 BA
.871 OPS
103 R
85 RBI
121 OPS+
.349 OBP
.520 SLG

These numbers represent the WORST he has done in each of these stats since 2009. He is doing this while playing second base. He is far and away the best second bagger in the league. Honestly, I think he will make the Hall of Fame.

FIFY...lets not mix Trout and Harper together just yet. One has produced at an historic level while the other really hasn't.

Yeah, I'm likely a homer but I don't feel I'm off base here.
