He's talking prorated projections.

Per 36 minutes
Lillard 17.8 ppg
Davis 16.8 ppg

If you were paying attention last night, you would have realized that GV was playing off ball a lot. Roberts and EG were initiating the offense for the most part.

"Did you forget that Vasquez missed last game with an ankle injury that he's almost certainly still dealing with? I'm down for upgrading at PG but calling him out for ONE bad game when he's clearly not close to 100% is ridiculous."

A hearty amen to ALL of this. Vasquez has played his behind off all year, often with significant success.

You people find any way possible to hate on Vasquez. He either takes too many shots, or he doesnt take enough. He always passes it too much or doesnt pass enough. Sheesh find a life more than trying to hate on the guy who has basically been our most valuable player this season

Vasquez, for the most part, has been pretty solid on a pretty weak team.

He gets criticism when he tries to become a shoot first PG. He needs to be like Kidd in the beginning years when he was just an assist machine.

He will never outplay elites PGS in this league consistently. But he can be a serviceable option if he's coached right.

Lillard at best will improve to a 20pt 7ast type of guy while davis will have the potential to become a superstar and could averege 25pts 12reb, maybe even more, in his prime. We made the right choice by far.

You do realize that Lillard is basically averaging that right now? He's averaging 19 and 6.5.

We def made the right decision. I just don't get why people get so butt hurt when talking about Lillard. Is it crazy to say that both of them will be very very good in the NBA? No. I just don't get why people don't think Lillard will improve? He will. So will AD. They are 2 very good rookies in the league. Both will be big time players. And we def made the right pick with AD.

people don't think he won't improve...they think he's nearer to his ceiling than AD is... 21/8ish may be his ceiling, which is right around what he's at now. and there's obviously nothing wrong with that if he keeps it up over a 7-10 year span. that's all-star numbers.

I hear you quail. But one poster said his ceiling would be around 20 and 7. And that's what hes basically putting up as a rookie. Guy didn't do his research. I see Lillard at 23 pts 7 assists. He's not a pass first type of guy. But, I see AD putting up 23 and 12 Rebs 2 blocks.

And if we need a PG. Shane Larkin I personally think Gravy is serviceable and we have a bigger need at the 3 and 5 before addressing the PG.

He and Burke are very similar, but I think Larkin is a better athlete and faster. He is def stronger. And we can get him cheaper. Don't have to waste a top 10 pick in him. Larkin is getting comparison to Ty Lawson right now and the more I watch him play the more I see it.

Lillard plays 39 MPG. Anyone could put up legit counting stats if they played almost a full game. Case in point, Vazquez.

Lillard has the 27th best PER amongst PGs. There are only 32 NBA teams. He is an average PG at best.

re: If you need any more proof we need a PG

I get that he plays a lot of minutes. Everyone blows up the PER stat because Lillards isn't that great and Davis is awesome. If we're going strictly off PER, Drummond is better than AD. So is Andre Blatche and Javal McGhee. Brandon Wright is right behind AD in per stat. It's a good way to evaluate a player that plays minor minutes, but it has its flaws. I mean Patrick Beverly is the 16th rated PG in the game, and I've never heard of him. He averages 5 points 3 assists and 2 Rebs a game. Yea, he's a legit PG. It takes what a player does in certain minutes, and calculates what they would put up if they played at that rate for the entire game. It's an estimate and not a realistic number. People need to find a diff way to knock on Lillard by using something other than his minutes and his PER. His real #s are 19 and 7 as a rookie and has gotten better and more efficient each month. I look at the game stats, which is what the player actually does, not an estimate . Lillards game stas are really really good. And just a rookie. His efficiency rate will go up. Vazquez isn't putting up what Lillard is.

How many average point guards put up 19 and 7? And as a rookie? Not that many. Just because he doesn't have a great PER in his rookie season doesn't mean he won't be a great player. I'm sure Westbrook has had some seasons early on where his PER wasn't that great. Same for Steph Curry and John Wall. But they are legit top 15 NBA PGs.

Maybe in the Western Conference

Dude averages only 6.5 assists per game and plays nearly 40 minutes The fact that Batum shoots 4 less times than Lillard isaughable. If Lillard could set up a guy like Aldridge the way say Rondo sets up Garnett or Parker sets up Duncan, then we could talk about Lillard being an actual legit PG

Raymond Felton is a below average PG and be mustered the same amount of assists last year as Lillard but in only 32 mpg, fwiw

Ok

Lillard is 25th in PER among PGs who average more than 25 MPG

He's a compiler just like GV. When your Per 36 is lower than your actual numbers, then you may have a problem

Batum hasn't shot a lot in recent months because he is hurt and isn't shooting well. He has a wrist injury.

Felton has been in the league for what 8 years? Lillard is a rookie.

And his PER might not be great. But espn player rater has him as #27 overall player and #8 PG. There are more than 1 ways to evaluate a player.

He is also top 15 in scoring and top 20 in assists out of the entire NBA. As a rookie. But since his PER isn't good, he blows.
