...have we talked about that yet? (I wasn't a part of the Match Thread last night, so I'm not sure.)

According to Ives, for the first time in a three-year, 42-match span, we played only guys born in America.

Our German-born (Jones, Chandler, Williams, Johnson), Brazilian-born (Feilhaber), and Colombian-born (Agudelo) players that we've used in that span weren't available. Yet we went into the Azteca and got a historic road point. (So, yeah, Bruce Arena, "we" are doing just fine in producing American-born talent.)

Please note that this isn't me agreeing or supporting Randy or any other "AMERICAN BORN ONLY!!!'1!" posters' views.

ETA: This might have been brought up in the ESPN pregame show. I didn't watch.

I'm pretty sure I saw that every player in the starting XI had played in the MLS.

That, too. And I remembered that it was discussed last night...wasn't sure about the American-born angle.

Ain't that the truth?

So glad Gio didn't work out at Barca and then stagnated at Tottenham. Best thing totts have ever done.

So is Vela still pissed about that whole suspension incident?

I would assume so. Though, I don't know. They just mentioned that he turned down his call-up on the broadcast last night.

After watching him play for Sociedad against Real Madrid, I don't really care why he doesn't show up. He was Sociedad's best player after Xabi Prieto, and Xabi Prieto scored a hat-trick.

Yeah, I thought it was ridiculous to rip him without context for turning down the call-up. There's some bad blood between he and the federation.

And yeah, always thought Vela would turn out good. Perfect for La Liga. Unfortunate for him when switched to a 4-3-3 right as he was coming of age. He would've been a perfect second striker in a 4-4-2.

I could live without seeing him and Chicharito playing together for Mexico. I guess, however, that Chicharito is really the best player of that youth team cycle for them.

ETA: Michael Bradley played a bigger role for our Canadian U20s than Chicharito did for Mexico, but it's interesting to see that Mexico and the US both had players who excelled over the big two (or four)

I still love watching the highlights from those games. Poland, Uruguay, Brazil. It was awesome.
