Do you think those limitations were arbitrarily put in the bill? Of course not. They are needed to ensure people that have good health spend money on plans they do not need to cover the sick patients that don't pay.

You can't have a redistributive benefit program without taking more than one needs.

They need that money to cover the other people, to cover the elderly and sick who have "cost equality" now.

it isnt changing champ.

I used to have a high deductible plan too

I still do and we have no indication the plan will be "illegal" under Obamacare.

It will either comply with bronze, silver, gold, or platinum plan requirements, or it may well be disallowed. No health plan will be allowed to charge cost-sharing - including deductibles, co-payments or co-insurance - greater than the limits for high-deductible plans, and health plans for small businesses are barred from charging deductibles greater than $2,000 per year for individual coverage or $4,000 per year for family coverage. No health plan can apply a deductible or any cost-sharing for certain preventive health services.

It will be interesting when all of the 20-40 year old Obama voters see their premiums skyrocket. At least those of us who were against it from the start were able to lube up. They'll be taking it dry.

The rate caps would seem to have a greater impact on cost shifting than limits on high deductible plans, and they were always going to shift costs to younger people. Sure, insurers get higher premiums, but they also have to pay out more with lower deductibles.

Will insurers necessarily collect more with lower deductible plans? I was under the impression the primary intent of deductible caps was to pressure employers into providing more generous health insurance.

I don't expect the ACA to go anywhere, but I do think parts of the bill can be tinkered with if they prove unpopular enough.

but, ya know, frick that.

instead of using government to create incentives for people to follow this plan, it's better to just outlaw it
Keep voting. It will get better.

But seriously, it won't. Stop wasting your time.

The government thinks you're stupid period. All decision making should be done by the smart folks in government.

I have health coverage through the large corporation I work for (XOM) I pay about $450 a month for my family of 4 - copays are $25. I voted for the other guy and really thought he would win so I did not research this shite storm too much.

Children (Santa believers) will believe in fairy tales regardless. They will try to "rationalize" their beliefs so they can feel taken care of. I wouldn't expect meaningful contributions from those people in this thread.

re: The Government thinks I'm stupid and I make bad health care choices

Basically I dont carry insurance at this time because I can't afford it through my company because I'm swamped with issues I can't get out of for a few yrs....

So obamacare says I will have to pick up coverage by Jan 1st ?

How much will the premiums be roughly thru obamacare ?

Do people really pay rates this high? Goodness.

I pay about $90/month through work for a great plan for just myself.

Your employer pays the rest which is probably over $200 or $300. That would be going to you as salary otherwise.
