Jennifer Lawrence was originally cast as O, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.[7] Other actresses considered for the part included Olivia Wilde, Teresa Palmer, and Abbie Cornish.[8] In April 2011, it was reported that Lively had joined the film.[9] Before casting Taylor Kitsch in the film, Oliver Stone asked director Peter Berg to show him 30 minutes of Kitsch's work in Battleship to see how he was as a leading man, and after seeing that footage, he cast him.[10] Trevor Donovan originally auditioned for a role that was cut but after seeing Donovan's tape, Stone specifically wrote him a part that was not in the book.[11] Uma Thurman played O's mother, Paqu, but her scenes were cut due to time constraints.[12]

Taken from Wiki

The movie would have been a lot different, and I'm glad they had the castings they had

Wasn't that the last time Blake Lively was in anything big? I thought she was the next big thing? Guess Jennifer Lawrence grabbed that spot.

Blake Lively is pretty much the female version of Matthew Mcconaughey, IMO

What an awful movie. An embarrassment of riches in terms of talent and they really, really screwed it up.

Other than Blake Lively, I didn't have a problem with the casting. The characters were just kinda flat for the most part but I liked the casting of Kitsch, Hayek and Del Toro.

I enjoyed this movie, too. It's not one to take too seriously.

I liked the movie.

I prefer the "fake" ending to the actual ending.

How anyone could make it to the "endings" of this movie and not hate it is beyond me. That was the dumbest ending I've ever seen.

I just read the plot summary on wikipedia. The two endings both sound horrible, although the one they actually went with is much worse.

If you thought the plot summary on Wikipedia was bad, then you'd truly hate how Oliver Stone fricked it up on screen.

The endings were absolutely catastrophic. I remember looking at my friend and saying "what the frick was that?" It pretty much ruined the whole movie for me.

I enjoyed it, but it could've been better. Was a little too "light" for me considering the topic. I bet it would be awesome as a foreign film with a top-notch crew behind it.

I really disliked the book and haven't tried the movie. I didn't realize Uma was cut from the final movie. I am pretty sure I remember her from the trailers but I could be wrong.
