I understand that completely. I'm not saying he should get an offer, but just think it's rather tough to turn down a school that's offering a full scholarship in order to pay your way to a school because of emotional attachment.

It does happen, but we'll see.

yeah I agree it'd be strange. just meant if he REALLY was set on LSU I think he could swing it. I really haven't seen enough to guess if he's SEC caliber or not even to make that determination. But with Victor, Exum, the MS kid all on the radar it's gonna be tight for LSU to take him.

How many 6'1 6''2 SG do you know that play big d1 ball? LSU already made that mistake with Stringer. Mid major bound

There is only one ball. There is no reason not to have a team player like Touchet on a D1 team. When buidling a championship team, you do NOT want it full of ball needing scorers. Players play along with stars. Touchet is a player. Do yourself a favor and go see him next year, he could average 40 points a game if he wanted but his team would not win as many games.
You know what he did the day after they announced his award? He called his coach and asked if he could get the gym opened for him to practice....oh and by the way, IT WAS 5 AM!!!

sure there is. We have better players lining up to play for LSU. The guy may or may not be SEC caliber. But what I know is that LSU is after players more well regarded than he is. Its not a slight to the kid, its a testament to the kind of player Johnny Jones is getting. If some others fall through maybe he gets a chance. But how do you offer him with Victor, Exum, Booker, Oubre, Beard etc... still out there. I know some are long shots as of now...

didn't someone post above he shot like 25-30 times against St. Aug?

6'1/6'2 is plenty tall for a 2-guard in college. Really tough in the NBA other than being off the bench in spots but this is college, not the NBA we're talking here.

While Stringer isn't ideal size, the kid just averaged double digits a game scoring and shot >40% from 3...so "mistake" is a bit harsh. Yes, we dont want a full team of undersized players, but 1 here and there isn't going to hurt IF they are smart/productive players, such as Stringer.

Morgan is 6'4, Stringer is 5'9. Both played the same position this year...who was better? This is my point. Not saying Morgan cant get better, as we all think he will progress since he was just a freshman, but size doesnt always mean a better player. Stringer vs. Morgan this year is a great example.

I honestly dont see Johnny Jones offering unless we missed out on probably a handful of kids we have ahead of Touchet on the board for 2014, but a big part of that might also be because Jones DOES like length at every position. In the end, if it came down to it, this kid can definitely play, whether or not he could be effective in the SEC is certainly up for debate, but simply being 6'1/6'2 doesn't mean he would be useless considering we had a dead eye 5'9 3 point shooter on our team this year.

Half Derenbecker where he pretty much was the only option for them so he's a system kid. But his talent and drive are apparent. I just think he goes against what Jones is doing at LSU though. Just not the brand of basketball Touchet is gonna play and be effective at. But his 20 pts a game are all hustle or free throws...or 3s. But not even top 5 players in state next year IMO.

Yea he did shoot it that many times. LOL at Elle I feel you baby.(didnt D play the pg some that year tho) Like LA Bred is saying the kid is a system guy. Malik Morgan will be >>>Stringer. He will wind up at ULL I belive they run a spread the court type offense which will be better suited for him.

He shot the ball 30 fricking times and had 22 free throws. Shooting percentage was horrible against a team with length. That's what he will see at a big d1

This is correct. He's a decent player, but against teams with length and pressure defense he will have problems. The officiating in the STM and Aug game was piss poor. Touchet had problems all night long hitting shots. Most of the time the officials bailed him out with calling horrible fouls when he drove to the basket. There are quite a few better players out there LSU can go after. Now if LSU misses out on all of those kids then they should give Touchet a look as a filler.

Would it be fair to say that Touchet always out performs his abilities and Craig Victor always under performs his ability.

At least that's the feeling I get.

I'd say Victor is the specimen but watching both play I'm not sure he deserves to be as highly regarded as he is.

Would be extremely correct. Two are complete opposites. I'd go into detail from what I've seen on the court but don't want to start an argument.

Just know this, Touchet's work ethic and humility will get him further than where he is talent wise. Victor... is just blessed to be talented and has obviously worked hard on his game.

Touchet is a very good player. He struggled in the first half of the St Aug game, but in the 2nd half he got to the rim whenever he wanted. Victor couldn't guard him either. He shot 22 free throws because he kept getting fouled at the rim. I'm not an STM guy, but I was impressed with what I saw in Touchet.

That being said, there may be some better suited guys for LSU than him. I understand LSU passing on him if they get the other guys they're going after.

Yea he undeperforms but he averaged 18 pts with a team that had absolutely no guard play the whole year and all this while getting double teamed.

Every teams best player gets extra attention.

I just would like to see a 5 star player with his physical ability take over.

I go back to game changers like Tasmin, Marcus Spears, Greg Monroe, Big Baby, all guys who were ranked similar to Craig, and I really don't think he belongs in that class.

Of course, when needed, stars step up and take over the game. Who are these "better" players you speak of? What does better mean to you more than Player of the Year?

He is FAST, has a 35+ vertical, shoots lights out, and is a WINNER. If he were black, you would love him as a Tiger right?
