The Pacific vs. Band of Brothers

Which did you enjoy more?
Recently started rewatching Band of Brothers and I had forgotten just how awesome this series was. While I think BoB is more exciting overall and has the compelling story of Easy Company that develops throughout the series, The Pacific does a better job of showing the psychological trauma side of WWII that is often overlooked, and in a sense, effectively wears the viewer down by recreating the relentless will of the Japanese.
Both are very similar in the the story-telling aspect and do an amazing job in paying homage to the actual veterans of WWII, and for that I can't decide which I enjoy more (not that I have to choose, but it makes for an interesting discussion.)

BoB.
GK is better than both though.

Band of Brothers for me because there were so many characters that I loved.

I enjoyed them both but don't get why so many people hate on the pacific.
It was very well done

I've only seen the first third or so of The Pacific. I kinda lost interest in it (but I bought it and will watch it one day). However, Band of Brothers is the second-best* TV miniseries in history IMO.
ETA: Behind Planet Earth.

I enjoyed both.
In general I have always been more interested in the european theatre. So I would watch BoB over Pacific.

I enjoyed both, but as a Marine, I am a little biased towards The Pacific.
It's unfair to compare IMO because they are so different.

BoB better but Pacific stands up well. Just a different way of telling a story. A couple of the actors in P you just couldn't relate too. Seems they went more for some hollywood than regular guy type actors.

Exactly. Overall I liked BoB better, but that takes nothing away from the Pacific. It was so different that it's very hard to compare. Still think BoB was the best thing I've ever seen on TV.

Haven't seen The Pacific yet, plan to. Loved BoB.

Band of brothers was better, better character development.
i didnt like pacific because all the characters looked way too much alike and i couldnt tell them a part

I didn't get hooked by the first episode and never finished it.

I have it second as well, but the first prize goes to (effectively the same production team, though) From the Earth to the Moon.

Band of Brothers was the better one. The Pacific was good, but for me it just took a while for the interest level to get there.

I agree. I do wish there would have been more introduction and development with the characters when the series started off, but I think The Pacific was ultimately about who the characters "became" by the end of the war, unlike BoB. The Pacific did seem sort of slow because of this.

BoB was better, but I still like Pacific. With BoB, we were able to follow these characters, watch them grow. Pacific didn't have that feel to it. Also, with BoB being in the European theater, I think it was easier to follow the progression of the war; west to east. With the Pacific, the battles were all over the map, and it was difficult to see/understand an overall strategy.
I had the same problem. It wasn't until the second time I watched it that I was able to tell the characters apart. Like every person who fought in the Pacific theater was a dark haired Italian from New York (with the exception of Sledge Hammer)

BoB. The story is more linear and less fragmented, and of course, it's the greatest miniseries of all time.
I enjoyed The Pacific, but there were too many story lines. It wasn't hard to follow. It just didn't spend enough time on any one story line for me to become really engrossed in it.
Plus, the Easy Co. guys were always fricking shite up. The Pacific guys were always "tortured and destroyed by their experiences."
Whiny little bitch Marines.
ETA: Oh, and it made ZERO mention of the horrors thet American POW's endured at the hands of their Japanese captors.
I'm not a vet, but holy shite. How do yo tell a story about the Pacific war and not have that as one of your hundred competing story lines? That actually made me angry.

Come on. Really?
IMO, comparing BoB and Pacific is apples and oranges. Two very different wars, two very different enemies. While BoB made it much easier to get emotionally invested in the characters, I think it was more of a circumstance of the war in the Pacific than the series. Both were very well done.
That being said, I watch BoB about once a year. I've only seen The Pacific once.

This is the right answer.

It's far more realistic without all the fake heroics and theatrics of BoB.
Edit: There's a reason that a lot of senior staff and officers hate GK and Evan Wright.
