I am looking to get a decent priced gun safe. Probably just a 10 to 14 capacity. I looked at Dick's and Academy. Does anyone have a recommendation around $600. TIA

There are plenty of cheapos, way under your price range.
I also went with a cheapo because of 2 reasons...
1. I'm only securing my guns from my children, and not necessarily concerned with being robbed.
2. I had to buy a 54 gun safe, so even the cheapo was a bit of an investment.
I went big because I also store a lot more than just guns in there. The best advice I got was figure out what size you need, then get a size bigger.

Tractor Supply and Academy. Check out their websites. I'm looking at the 48 gun safes.
Don't know if TSC offers it, but Academy has a sub-contractor that will deliver and drill into foundation.

Check tractor supply. They may have a 24 gun winchester in that range. Good luck finding just about anything in stock though. There appears to be a run on safes too.

figure out how many guns you have to store in it and double it.

Check out Home Depot too. I am waiting for my 64 Cannon to come in right now. Good price for what I wanted.

I ordered a Liberty from lowes in Feb. They kept miving the delivery date back. When it got to June I cancelled the order and got a John Deere stamped Liberty Fatboy jr. It is sitting on the trailer now.

I bought a dented Browning one from Bowie for about 1/3 of the original price. It was originally $1600 knocked down to $600. The dent is on the top, you cant even see it.

I replced the door knob on my closet with one that you have to lock with a key and added a pad lock. Really cheap, and if you are not investing in a quality safe, it will burn in a fire, just as easily as your closet will.

I'll use this thread, what are everyone's thoughts on a gun safe in an unairconditioned garage?

You'll need some form of dehumidifier.

I think that would be a dumb idea chad.
As for the OP, don't skimp on a safe. You'll regret it.

I ordered the Liberty safes made for Cabelas in late January this year. Supposed to take 4-6 weeks and we are on week 7 with no delivery date set as yet. Cabelas' customer service has been helpful so far. Will see how long it takes. Going to wait it out another few weeks.
