Just bought the 3 popular songs from the latest. Had no idea they had so many albums. Any recommendations for single purchases from the earlier albums?

Good list.
Anything from either Gleam will be great. I also love November Blue

I don't generally like listening to live versions of songs. Thanks though.

Emotionalism. But the album. That's really all you need. If you love it, buy the rest. If you do not, you have most of their essential early stuff (Shame, Die Die Die, Weight of Lies, Ballad of Love and Hate) and you can safely say you don't like the Avett Brothers' early stuff.

Just from the tiny samples at Allmusic, Salina sounds like about the only thing I'd get right now. Again, short samples.
They know a lot of pretty girls, BTW.

see you need to get some beer and if you partake in mary j... but just sit and listen through
there songs will start one way and then total change in the middle of the song.

quote:Break that rule for Avett Brothers. They are one of the few bands who you could legitimately argue sound better live than recorded. Live Volume 3 is one of my favorite albums. You should strongly consider getting the DVD for that one.

Totally understand. I would not like Iron and Wine if not for his Austin City Limits deal. Way better versions of every song. That's why i said generally.
