If you are still paying for the Picayune, in
my opinion, you are part of the problem. But
since I no longer read it, I am wondering which
rag LSU fans think is superior. If you still suscribe to the Picayune, please tell us why?

What problem?

All I know is: I travel the nation weekly, Baton Rouge's sport section is pretty spectacular in comparison.

Subscribe to neither.

Online, I give the T-P an edge based on Jimmy Smith's recruiting coverage. If recruiting doesn't matter as a much to you, then it's closer.

Rabalais-East and the new guy at the Advocate vs. Kleinpeter-Rosetta...pretty close.

I find the TP covers LSU sports better than the Advocate does. and they are worlds better in coverage of rcruiting, the Saints and the Hornets. sucks that TP is no longer daily, but they have better writers and better all around coverage

The advocate smelled a bunch of fools in New Orleans. They saw that they could boost the daily to $1.00 and the Sunday to $2.00 and the locals will pay for it. On top of that they send the New Orleans addition to Houma and area with an old picayune early addition with no additions like ads and late sports scores on Sunday. If you live in other areas like BR itself I assume you'll get the morning addition with coverage past 9:00 the night before. Most people are now buying the local paper in the southeast area.

Living in central Louisiana, I have programmed myself to know where every Advocate paper machine is in the area, just so I can read the sports. It is simply the best sports section in the state.

Print media seems to be on the skids. Where I'm at, I get the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. One of the worst sport sections I've seen, unless you are fascinated with girls HS volleyball. One of the writers is even from LSU. If it doesn't concern the Big 12, you'll be lucky to even see a score printed, and if the game goes past about 9pm, you won't see it in the next days' paper, and I'm talking about SNF and MNF.

Picayune is much better. Much better national sports reporting, food/drink and restaurant stuff.

Advocate is still hiring high school year book/newspaper staffers to write for them from the looks of things.

They do this a lot with sports other than East/Rabalais covering LSU. Hire a lot of stringers to fill out a good chunk of their stuff

Only if all you care about is Baton Rouge area sports and Southern/LSU.

The Picayune still actually sends one or two writers to major sporting events all over the country.
I also think they do better writing about LSU. Maybe not as many articles, but much better quality.

writing us a poem?

i would hope the BATON ROUGE paper does a better job than the NEW ORLEANS paper at covering a school in its own city. yet the TP still has very good coverage of LSU.

People who complain about the Advocate are short-sighted, IMO.

They are owned by the same people and yes, the advocate has a strong sports section. Kicks the shite out of the Houston chronical, USA today etc.

Yes.
I still like to spread a paper out on the paper and read while I have coffee or eat breakfast. Also like a paper while taking a dump.

I am in front of a computer for 8 hours a day, so I like to have a break from reading from a screen at times.

The TPs coverage if LSU sucks. It could never ever pick the peanuts out of the shite of the Advocate....
