Childhood memories help: Can you transfer Video8's (MPtape) to DVD? Where/how?

So I have like 15 old tapes, labeled Video8 or MP metal partical tape. I'm 26, all our home videos when I was a kid were filmed on these things. It has been forever since I've seen them. My flag football stuff, archery competitions, my sisters dance recitels, skating rink trips, funniest home video stuff. I could go on for days of what we have filmed an you guys would think its hilarious me just mentioning them. Like me and my sister racing and my crying bc she let me win, stuff you guys would find HILARIOUS! Like my brother wrecking the four wheeler you guys would love it. Or that time I fell off the swing HAHAHA man so funny I know.
Seriously, I need to get these transfered over. This recorder was super expensive at the time, but my dad buys the most expensive stuff that nobody uses. My dad bought a Zune a few years ago. A Zune? Really. Or his jet boat, c'mon dad get a freaking bass or ski boat not some 500mph thing that nobody wants to get on.
Can these even be transferred over to DVD? Who could do it? Walgreens/cvs can't. It's not looking good for my childhood.

either run the camera playback through a more modern camera into a computer and record into imovie or something, or if you still have the vcr adapter, just use that instead of the cam. might be trickier if you dont have something lying around with rca inputs and firewire/usb out.
i had to transfer VHS into some editing software, so i hooked a VHS up to my DVX, played it into that while the DVX was inputing into the recording software.
google it. there are other message boards devoted to these kinds of problems.

Thanks man. Tried googling stuff but didnt see anything. I definitely don't have the camera but I'll try and research for an adapter. It's the same size as a cassette tape.

You will probably find your parent's sex tape by mistake doing this.
But seriously, Walgreens does it. Kind of expensive though ($24 for one tape).

We did the same thing with all kinds of family recordings. Look around ,call around , we found a local TV repair place that did transfers from 8's to DVD. They charged $10.00 , Walgreen's is $24. In fact 2 local TV shops do transfers here in Tupelo. If your city is bigger, like Baton Rouge, you'll have stores that will do it. One local DJ does it too. Look for a DJ.
