Someone help me here. Lets say we have the cap room to get both of these guys, which I hope we do.... Well besides cutting people, which causes its own problems, how would we be able to try to extend graham? He is a UFA after this year and I can't imagine being able to beat the open market.

Grok is 8 year 55mil I believe

Next year cut Harper, franchise Graham.

Saints come out ahead for 2014.

Kick the can on Graham

Can you show me why he is not in a position to be a UFA tigs. Just saying false doesn't really contribute jack

He'll be a RFA. Put him on the tender next year and match any offer or just franchise him.

This is of course if a long term deal is not reached.

Gonna be one interesting contract. Homerism aside, gronk is the more complete TE, but he's a tad bit more injury prone.

Curious what he thinks he's worth.

I'm curious about this too. I thought RFA applied to 3 year deals

just looked it up, he will be an unrestricted free agent

I thought the new CBA moves UFA until after 6 years. Graham is great and I would hate to lose him, but he can be replaced.

I thought it was 4 or less years = RFA, more than 4 = UFA.

No. First round rookies had the max length of their contracts cut from 5 to 4 years, but teams have the option to pick up a 5th season with the cost based on something like the 3rd-20th highest paid at their position (figure about 60% of the cost to franchise them). UFA is still after 4 years for all other players. Graham is an UFA and will fight for the WR tag.

ETA: Meant Graham WILL BE (in 2014) an UFA, obviously not now or it would have been the talk of the offseason.

I guess I took it as after your 4th year(but before you play the 5th year) you were a RFA instead of after your 4th year you are an UFA.

Just for reference we are at $118.3 mil for next year for just 40 players. This is not counting Smith(team option year not likely to be picked up) or Watson(no contract details yet).

This is without De La Puente or Jimmy Graham signed next year and no clear starting LT or RT for offense.

On defense we are missing a clear starting FS and still just have Galette and Wilson at OLB(if they both play great no problem).

Graham is going to get paid and OTs aren't that cheap. DLP will cost a bit too.

We really need to draft well this year. I think OT(LT and/or RT), FS(and/or SS as Harper may get cut), and OLB are the most important positions to hit on.
