Call The Midwife - BBC show

Another good Brit show I found on Netflix; haven't seen any mention of it here.
Check it out. The show is set in the late 50's in London's dirt-poor East End, and follows midwife Nurse Jenny Lee. The production values are as good as Foyle's War and Downton Abbey, and the writing, acting, and direction is also almost on par with them. The poor people are very realistic. The heartwarming factor might be a little high for the jaded among us, but I don't mind it because of the writing and humor. Oh, and Jenny Agutter is a nun.
And the rigors of childbirth in the "old days" are cringe-worthy.
I'm on the third episode so far and am impressed. It's enjoyable and I like the break from the intense stuff like Luthor, MI5, and Sherlock. Here's a pic of the main actress:
Let me know what y'all think.

I thought that show was a comedy?
Never saw it but I think it used to come on saturday nights on PBS with their BBC comedy lineup right? Or am I confused?

I dunno about the PBS airings, I'm watching on Netflix. It's got a fair share of comedy, and some good one-lines, but there's some good drama in there, too. But it's not strictly a comedy. It's lighthearted a lot, but the undertones are serious.

Hmmmm...need to check this out. Especially with Jenny Agutter.
Been a fan ever since Logan's Run.

She looked nice in Walkabout, too.
But I think she was only 16 at the time.
She plays a nun, so don't get your hopes up.

Extreme bump.
This is a very good show. Finished season 1 on netflix, and now on season 2 on PBS on Sundays.
Along with Selfridge, Vikings, Inspector George Gently and now Bletchly Circle...my Sunday nights are full.
(and I don't even watch GoT :gasp:)

My mom freaking loves this show. I pegged it to be the biggest chick flick show of all time, I'm guessing I'm wrong on that?

Ah, it's damn good drama. The stories do not feel contrived to be drama, for the sake of having drama. Oh, they might be, and you do have the occasional subplot, but they're interesting and very well done.
The contrasts of the human conditions are always interesting to me as my own father was a minister. As with most shows, it flows better when you watch it from the beginning; you understand the characters more. The second season looks to be better than the first, so far.
Just found out that it's airing on PBS's website. I was paying 1.99 per episode for the new season on Amazon Prime.
