Fwiw I nor majority of LSU fans haven't sen enough from welter to make any assumptions on his potential contributions in 2013.

And he wouldn't have to do great things, he'd have to do the right things. You can't have 11 superstars on every defense. And MLB--more than any other position on defense--requires intangibles. You can't just throw the best athlete out there if they don't know what they're doing. That said, I'm very skeptical of Welter starting on August 31st myself. I still think there will be some shakeup. But if he proves us all wrong, it will be because he's the best man for the job, not because Miles and/or Chavis are tards.

What? Minter had 11 starts and 76 tackles at this point in his career. Welter has maybe 11 meaningful snaps (all in the Chic Fila Bowl) and 7 career tackles.

we're halfway through spring practice and nobody has named him a starter. Thats definitely Chavis hitching his career to Welter. Its almost like there is a certain something about Welter that makes some of you so passionate about needing him to start as a small, unathletic, middle linebacker who failed off the team last year.

he's neither small or unathletic. Add in that he's a tackling machine and a heady player in the middle of the D and you can see why Chavis may want to go with him.
