Why does Bruce Willis attach himself to bad/straight to DVD movies now?

He's like Nick Cage without the money problems.
We know why Nick Cage does crap, he has money problems due to his love of buying castles he can't afford.
Bruce has to have a shite ton of money and has no reason to get involved in crap but he does it constantly.
The Sixth Sense was in 1999. That's a good jumping off point because it's almost a nice round number of 15 years.
In those 15 years, he has exactly 4 non-animation movies that are 70%+ on Rottentomatoes in which he is in the top 5 as billed.
Counting movies with a $10,000,000+ box office only, he has been in 30 movies in this time frame.
He has been a lead or significant supporting actor in 4 good movies in this century and 26 shitty ones.I was surprised by this.
He is trending hard towards just outright crap now, though.

Make hay while the sun is shining, I guess.

Meh. I think he has enough money that at this point he just does movies that appeal to him and eff everyone else.

Some actors like to work all the time?
He figures his best roles are behind him, and the less he works, the less work will be offered to him?

He maybe just does stuff that seems like fun and isn't worried about the money because he does do a lot of cameo stuff. You'd be hard pressed to find a supposed A-lister that has more bit parts than him.
Still, though, I was surprised to see he had only been the lead or supporting actor in 4 critically acclaimed movies since Sixth Sense.

I've never heard or seen anything about Bruce Willis not having his money right.
The new Die Hard seemed like a movie just for a check but he's not known for that. He's got too many movies he is for the f of it where there couldn't be much money involved for that to be the reason.

It seems like he just wants to act and these are the parts that he's getting offered. Isn't he like sixty now?
I could be wrong but it seems that he's strictly an actor. He doesn't seem to have made the jump behind the camera like some of the others.

I don't think he gives a shite about making good movies anymore and just wants to keep working or make some more money.

I think he just signs up for stuff that sounds like fun and doesn't care about money cause he has plenty and doesn't care about his rep as an actor.
Looper is evidence of that.
How can a guy be in an amazing movie like Looper and then go do all the crap movies he does?

A preview before my End of Watch rental had Gary Oldman in a straight to DVD movie. Happens all the time.

Deniro's another one that does this. He was in a straight to dvd movie recently where he was third billed behind Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent.

There are old rumors floating around about some older A list types that have/had enormous gambling debts
The actors usually linked to this rumor were Pacino, Willis and Hackman
Hackman has retired but Pacino and Willis continue to make odd career choices

BC nobody is casting Bruce Willis in the next Cormac McCarthy film.

I think he got divorced too. Probably trying to recoup some cash.

Expendables 2 was entertaining but the latest Die Hard was awful. Indiana Jones 4 level of awful. That's the two recent movies I've seen from him.
