What event or information changed your view on sports or particular sport?

Has there been a time where you discovered or witnessed something that completely changed how you look at sports?
For example, when I first read Moneyball, my view on baseball was changed forever. The 2012 piece at Sloan on the 13 positions of basketball also gave new light.
-Watching the early 00s Sacarmento Kings re-energized my love for the NBA(which died with the combo of Jordan's retirement and Grant Hill's injury).
-Watching football with some old college lineman, I started watching the LoS more to the point where I mostly watch that(as the camera allows me too).
-the PED explosion across sports made me realize most athletes are going to cheat and in most cases, I don't have a problem with that.
What was your moment that changed your view?

1984 - the Colts move. Lesson: it's all about money and teams do not love you.
1986 - Len Bias dies. Lesson: he was my first and last sports hero. Do not idolize people because they can play sports. You do not know these people.
1988 - 100m finals/Roy Jones screwjob. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, is cheating. Even in the Olympics. Do not pretend to be outraged.
1989 - O's 21 game losing streak. Lesson: being a fan of a team is about suffering.

The All-Star game that ended in a tie. After the game a reporter interviewed Alex Rodriguez about the fiasco of ending the game after 9 innings.
He stated that the fans only paid for 9 innings. The cheapest ticket that year was $150.00.
The man was getting paid $28,000,000.00 and he had the gall to say the fans only paid for 9 innings.
I honestly haven't watched a game since and I used to be a huge Cubs fan.

The 13 positions of basketball thing has so many holes in it. It basically doesn't take into account defense except for blocks and steals.

When Shaq left the Magic for the Lakers I stopped watching entirely. I've watched maybe 1 or 2 entire NBA games since that point.

The strike in 94 and then the Marlins owner selling off the team after we won the WS in 97 really soured me on baseball.

Tim donaghy going to prison. After that a lot of what happens in the nba suddenly made sense. Especially the kings/lakers series in 02.

I love boxing, but this absolutely ruined olympic boxing for me. And since 1988 there has been zero effort to make it any better than it was that day due to incompetence and corruption.

When I started playing rugby, my view on football changed.

must not have been that big of a fan if you let the opinion of one guy who has no affiliation with the cubs change your entire view on a sport.

I think it was around when Tyson went to prison that I stopped watching the heavyweight division.

2008 US Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene. I was always a fan of Olympic T&F but the event itself in person was really cool and I didn't expect it to be as entertaining as it was.

Toss in that I was still pissed about the strike, throw is a dose of steroids and I was done.

Mavs / Heat killed all of my interest in the NBA

Still pissed about a strike that took place 20 years ago?

Fact, I used to watch baseball all the time. Fact, I haven't in 10 years.
Don't care if you don't like my reasons.
